Story

Each week we gather to be inspired, seek beauty, and experience community in our multi-generational and spiritually-diverse religious home. On a typical Sunday, we all worship together for a brief time, and then our younger ones go to church school where they learn about justice, compassion, acceptance, and other values we share. The adults stay together in worship for a deeper experience of reverence. And after the service, we gather as one community again for a time of fellowship and enrichment. And that's just on Sundays! Our active and vibrant Unitarian Universalist congregation has many wonderful programs and events throughout the month. Newcomers are always welcome. Please check UUPrinceton.org for more information.

My wife and I have been members for over 30 years. We remain members because we agree with the Seven UU Principles and enjoy being with others who feel the same way. Furthermore, we gain spiritual sustenance and genuine fellowship from the Minister, staff and other members. As part of a denomination that "Stands on the Side of Love" , we act on our beliefs. For example, this congregation has conducted a "Spring Fair" annually for over 50 years to raise money for local non-profit organizations that provide services to local residents. All of the things sold at the fair, except for some of the food, have been donated by members and friends who recognize that the funds raised will go to other service organizations. No one who donates stuff to the fair receives any payment in return. In many cases, members will purchase what other members have donated. Thus the Spring Fair facilitates the re-use of things which the donor no longer wanted. The buyer gets a gently used item at a reasonable price. Less stuff goes to a land fill, or "dumped" , and the money goes to social service organizations which need it.

I ask for help just to make some ends meet by offering to sell some stuff during the May 14 sale. If one ever had the pleasure of going to Crisis Ministry, well be prepared to be insulted degraded and put down. I was told it was not this church policy to help. Interesting I thought it was every Christian policy to help each other.
