This was my grandfather's bank. This is my father's bank. So naturally when I got my first job, I was brought here to open my very first account. Back then they were known as "Rockville Bank". The staff were always helpful, quick yet friendly; the fees always fair. Then Rockville Bank went and purchased United Bank. The United Bank name was probably adopted because they thought it sounded more sophisticated, less colloquial. Everyone was assured that nothing change, things would only get better. My issue is United Bank no longer has an identity. They want to be BOA; they want to be Capitol One or maybe even TD but they are NOT and yet they charge as if they were. I don't care if your "Bank-Of-East-Bum-*uck" or "Bank-Of-The-Ridiculously-Wealthy", United Bank. BUT you can't charge the BOTRW fees and yet only offer BOEB* value. If you want to be BOTRW then be that but you need to offer that kind of service. If you want to be BOEB* then be that but stop nickeling and diming. If you don't figure out your identity, United Bank, you will fail. I mourned Rockville Bank, I will not mourn you.

I noticed that one of your reviewers is the Director of Retail Banking for United Bank. This reviewer just went to all of the branches and gave them 5 stars with no comment. Just what you want from a bank...them skewing numbers. I will be doing the same as him but leaving a 1 star instead to balance the "cooked books" .
