Great post office staff. They are always efficient and friendly.

Midland has a pretty good post office. Many years ago going to the post office was something to be dreaded: long lines and surly people behind the counter (and often in line with you). That changed quite some time ago and while not the most pleasant experience in the world, going to the post office to ship a package or buy stamps or whatever is not something I dread, anymore.

Lines can still get long, but the counter people are efficient and at least courteous (if not actually friendly) and the lines move along quite well. In heavy traffic seasons, like Christmas, the management puts extra folks behind the counter and things move alone well.

My one wish was that they would have some way so that you could skip the line when you are shipping a pre-paid shipping item and you need a shipping receipt. This takes about 30 seconds once you reach the counter, but you still had to wait. Well, it appears that during heavy traffic periods this post office now does that. There is a separate line. At least they did Christmas season 2016!

As for our local mail carrier, D****s, he is just excellent. Efficient, friendly, and enjoyable to talk and deal with.

I received notice of a delivery of a package but no package. I live in Alpine mobile home park, so mail gets delivered to a bank of mail boxes rather than door to door delivery. Our carrier regularly misdelivers mail.

Update: the carrier finally found my package, two days late.

I've been trying to call them for 2 days (honestly, 20+ times)  to set up a passport appointment and I either get a busy signal or it will ring and ring with no answer.  I really don't feel I need to drive across town in order to make an appointment face to face. I understand the front desk is always busy but obviously this means they are severely under managed or understaffed!!!!
