Story

What is Unity?
A worldwide movement founded in 1889, Unity is first—and foremost—a spiritual practice and a way of life. Unity has its philosophical roots in Christianity but is not limited to or bound by those roots. Thus, in Unity, we actively seek, study and respect the perennial wisdom and universal truths found in all the world’s religions. We believe there is one God, called by many different names and found through many different paths. We are culturally Christian but spiritually unlimited.

Core Beliefs
God (Spirit) is the Source and Creator of all. There is no other enduring power.
God is good and equally present everywhere.

We are spiritual beings created in God’s image. The spirit of God lives within each person; therefore, all people are inherently good.

We create our life experiences through our way of thinking, feeling and acting.

There is power in meditation and affirmative prayer which we believe increases our connection to God.

Knowledge of these spiritual principles is not enough. We must live them. Unity is a way of life.
