Shock trauma saved my daughters life. Nurses and doctors are on the cutting edge. Security was excellent. Being from a small town was nerve-wracking but I ALWAYS had the help of the security staff. The trauma chaplain is kind and so compassionate. She prayed with us during some very difficult times. I must mention the unbelievable plastic surgery team !! My daughter shot herself in the head in a suicide attempt. Recovering well and we will continue to benefit from the plastics team as reconstruction is a long process.
I arrived before 1:00 pm It is 4:15 pm I am still waiting because the lack of beds.I probably will get a response from management and still be in the waiting room DEAD. I’m in this area of waiting that looks like a concentration camp. There is no ringer for help no nurses or doctors not even the reception near by.. No call bells or call lights, Nobody around..if something happened to me or one of the patients. How would you guys know. I understand things happen, but you cannot transport you’re patient? Cannot check on the patient it’s terrible .
So the National Cancer Institute center main floor past the welcome desk should open at 7:30 but instead opened at 8am and the person at the desk was so rude today. Immediately as soon as she opened the door her response was I’m not ready yet with an aggressive and angry tone. She had more than 30 mins to get ready, as a matter of fact she had more than an hour. How much more time did she need to get ready? She is not the one treating the patients so what was her issue. If she doesn’t like her job or want to work on a Saturday then choose a different job. The patients are already here because they are not feeling well but to treat them as if they are a burden is inhumane. Gone are the days of respect and good customer service. The people that work in this hospital need to remember that if the patients don’t show up they don’t get a paycheck and eventually after a while when patients are tired of the horrible customer service they will begin to go else where. And if they think leaving the job and going elsewhere will save them it won’t. Their bad attitude will follow them. Patients have a choice of where they go to get treatment. The hospital itself may not close but specific units that are not being utilized will close. Also this is not the first time the clinic is not being opened on time and there is always an excuse. Also don’t get me started on the lack of knowledge or experience the staff have. Some are so overly confident that they don’t want to listen to anyone correcting them or they don’t know enough and are afraid to ask for help. It’s better to ask for help than to have a dead patient a little dramatic but it’s reality. Some of the staff here spend too much time on their phone talking or on social media that they don’t have time to focus on their job. You can’t take short cuts in the job because eventually it will catch up with you. Anyhoooo I think I have said enough l.
By far the worst hospital I think I've ever had to endure. I have never met a single staff member that truly cared for their patients. Not to mention the way they treated me. As if I was a third class citizen. On one particular visit, I had waited in the emergency room for 13 hours due to chest pains and wasn't even given an EKG, and my blood pressure had only been checked once. I would never recommend this hospital, especially not if your experiencinh life threatening compilation. I would rate this hospital no stars if it was an option
I would give it more stars cause the doctors and nurses are great. But the front desk staff and security gotta be the most disrespectful group of people especially at night like if you ain’t wanna work, go home and quit. Some of the front desk were helpful and quick I can’t get there names but the front desk from 2/5 on Sunday night they were absolutely the worst and rude like I have a family member we who might not make it through surgery and I gotta deal with their attitude problem like you not important and this job not making you important. Like just don’t work here cause you made the whole experience just that much worse I dread you front desk team and I honestly hope you fire and re interview them.
Awful experience! This hospital is the worst I’ve experienced. The facility touts the benefits of a multifaceted approach to medicine. I assure you the benefits are grossly outweighed by a complete lack of compassion, case-management, and continuity of care. We watched furiously as they attempted to discharge our loved-one without definitive diagnosis, withheld procedures for months, and withheld treatments to stop/slow disease progression which ultimately led to loss of life. This was consistent in ICU’s, step-down units, and vent-weening units at midtown and downtown campuses. Once you’re in this hospital system, you are stuck because they offer every specialty service there is, they just don’t provide it. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
Denied my mom for a kidney several yrs ago. I only came back because it was convient. I came here for shortness of breath and excruciating pain. Been here almost 10 hrs my test results came back normal 7 hrs ago. I was told they're waiting for an available bed. For what? So if I do get a bed I gotta wait 10+ hrs for a 2 min visit from a Dr? Just discharge me obviously they have no answers so why keep me here? I've pretty much diagnosed myself. I'm a diabetic and their damn machine is even out of order. Probably the 2nd worst hospital I've been to ever. I asked them to take the IV out because was irritating my skin. After an hr more waiting they told me that they took me off the chart. So now I have to wait another 10+ hrs? All I want to know is why I'm having trouble breathing and why I'm in so much pain
I can’t say enough wonderful things about the care teams at UMMC! My husband was flown to the shock trauma unit after flipping an ATV. He sustained a TBI & spent 5 weeks with the best medical care around! Not only did I never have to worry about how he was being treated, but I got to know the medical staff, who treated us both like family. I wish I could remember every name, but I promise I will never forget every kindness & comfort added to his healing. Serin was an absolute ANGEL & gave us so much compassion & care! She was always on top of every need & concern for my husband’s progress & advocated for him relentlessly. Tim, Alivia, Ericka, & a few Sarah’s were superbly responsive & kind….not to mention the security team, the reception team Ms Lily & so many others always knew my name, asked about my husband, & took care of our safety. The therapists, peer counselors, rehab team, social workers…the list goes on & on!! I never met many of my husband’s doctors, but they were attentive to every detail & listened to the advocacy of the nursing staff. True teamwork to help my husband heal! I literally cry when I remember how very well we were cared for during such a traumatic experience. Thanks to the stellar staff, my husband’s life was spared & he continues to show recovery progress. My heart is eternally grateful!
If you want your child to break mentally then send your child to the mental institution here if you want them to become even more broken than they already were. Staff here do not understand patient rights, and have a little plaque on the wall describing them. Staff will drag your child with multiple body guards cause they are crying, staff will also threaten to inject your kid if they decide to even shed a tear. Staff will NOT let your child see sunlight for weeks at a time. Staff will touch your child while they are ASLEEP to put trackers on them. If you as a parent wonder "Why don't my children talk to me", this place is the exact reason why.
Great hospital was in town for baseball game. Wound up having an allergic reaction to something. The staff was friendly. I was worried I'd have to wait a long time in the ER to be seen but I was in and out of the emergency room in an hour. Was pleasantly suprised w the hospital.
