Got here at 1:30AM with a puppy actively vomiting blood. It is now 5AM and all they have done is take vitals on her. I get that there are probably other animals in worse condition, but 3 and a half hours and all they did was take vitals? And they had pizza delivered and the staff is walking around with plates of pizza. I see what the priority here is.

Brought my puppy there from another vet who couldn't help and almost lost him. Doctors at the University diagnosed the problem imediately and saved his life. Every one involved was great. Saved me from heartbreak also

It's been 1 year ago this week I visited the UF Small Animal Hospital with my Miniature Schnauzer who was in his final stages of Kidney failure/disease. Looking back at the experience today, even though emotions were running high because I was constantly going through feelings of shock, grief, denial, acceptance and back to denial and grief again and again, the students and staff answered all my questions and concerns and went above and beyond the call of duty. From the moment I walked into UF Small Animal Hospital I was very impressed. The facility was immaculate and the students and staff were very caring, patient and committed professionals. I would recommend anyone faced with a difficult diagnosis with their pet to consider a teaching hospital because education is going to be one of the strongest defenses to getting through a very difficult situation.

It's not cheap but the best medical care you're going to get in the region. Plan for a couple days extra if you're traveling for a more serious issue, as we've found a few things require more time as you explore options (and they have them all).

The surgery team is very caring. My dog needed a perineal hernia repair. They did a wonderful job, Dr. Alex Alvarez was even nice enough to ask if I needed a perineal check. Jajaja.
