Beautiful research university with a safe campus. The majority of professors are highly qualified and quite knowledgeable in their respective fields of study. Students have plenty of opportunities to conduct research and get academic assistance. Many of the facilities have been built within the past 10 years and older ones are, for the most part, well maintained. The cost of in-state tuition is dramatically lower than that of other schools, not just in Maryland but in the entire country. However, the price does not reflect the quality of the education, which is very high and increasing annually. Depending on the program--especially in the STEM fields--this school ranks with the likes of Michigan, UCLA, Purdue, and others. The University of Maryland truly offers a high quality secondary education on a constantly updated, already gorgeous campus in the Washington Metro Area. The relatively affordable price for in-state students is a unique bonus that few other schools--if any--of the same caliber can match. And, of course, it's proximity to Washington, D.C. and accessibility to public transit allows students and faculty to take advantage of the many opportunities for learning, research, entrepreneurship, touring, and relaxing that the nation's capital has to offer!

I had best two years of my life at University of Maryland. UMD gave me all the opportunities to succeed, great research school and average tuition costs. Diverse student population and very close to DC. Surrounded by lots of companies in DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia which is a great advantage.

My Alma Mater. An excellent institution of higher ed. I loved the sprawling campus. I enjoyed learning from the expert faculty. You will not regret the UM experience. Go Terps!

I need to draw public attention to the police network responsible for blowing the power meter box and trying to torture and kill me for financial control. It was gary hoffman and the Maryland State Police are involved in the mafia. I have to hold police accountable for murder they had tried to put me into a saw movie like show of their enjoyment for crimes and substances they had committed and introduced and tried to put onto me as in create the reason to kill its twisted. This group has made recent credible threats to kill. They say because they're in the police they can't be held accountable for crime and further intend to torture me for using the internet to speak out about murder. There is convicting evidence shown. I am the owner of Queenstown Bank of Maryland... It's capitol offence conspiracy crime. I want them all arrested and I'm serious. No one is going to tell me that the system doesn't operate lock them all up now they're internal terrorists it's a big deal it does go on it's coming out of queen annes county with ties to acts of internal terrorism. I am so far from joking about this these people have to be stopped that's why I'm pushing it as far as I can

I didn't attend this school, I had a friend who went here. I went to Towson University. For starters we had been friends since we were little kids. We both live in Harford County. Well I still do anyway, she's moved out and never came back, not even to visit her family. After she attended this school for a couple of semesters, while also living on campus, when she came back home on one of her breaks she was a completely different person, and not in a positive way. She became very pretentious and conceited. Later on she told me we had outgrown each other as friends simply because she graduated before I did, which I felt she was basically calling me stupid, or saying I lacked intelligence academically. Plus after reading the negative reviews of people saying the professors and students are racist, even though I wasn't there to experience anything, I'm sure it's true, and I think that explains why my friend changed so much. I'm black and she's white. I really do believe the people at this school influenced her. College Park also has a heavy party culture. I figured that out when she became hooked on trying different mixed drinks and bar hopping. If you are a parent reading my review, please don't send your child to this school. The money that is used for tuition is not worth paying if this institution supports racist professors and students who are more interested in getting drunk every weekend than studying. Your child's classmates will be no different than the kids in high school who forced them to do stupid things by using peer pressure. After thinking about how much my friend changed into a person I didn't even recognize, it's obvious this school does not provide an open minded learning environment or a mature social atmosphere. One thing this school doesn't teach is that all people are equal. The vibe I got from my friend is that I was inferior to her, and she only learned this from listening to the hate speech that teachers spewed in their lectures, and socializing with her roommates, who based on the way she described them, were low quality people who didn't sound like they were concerned about their education. I know I'm biased in saying this, but Towson is much more inclusive. Yes there have been incidents of racism, but a solution was reached in the long run. College Park seems to have many hate crimes and no justice is ever served. My best advice: please choose another school. If you want your child to grow emotionally and mentally in a positive direction College Park is not the place.
