Staff are typically rude and sometimes a bit strange but one or two workers are nice. Some food options are good including the sushi.
The food is pretty good, but the soups are not made from scratch. The granola is horrible and tastes like a mix of butter cookies and fiber cereal. Everything is very clean and the staff is very helpful.
DON'T GO HERE, THE STAFF ARE SO RUDE! I went to this cafe around 11:50am today 06/12/17 with a friend, where I was discriminated against and pretty much humiliated in front of everyone, by one of the staff cashiers the older, bigger African American lady, if it matters. I am a graduate student who works in the building, and I was with a coworker and friend at the time. We both ordered the Toula’s Deli feature combo with a bag of potato chips and a fountain beverage each. The lids on the cups did not fit appropriately and my cup ended up spilling a decent amount right before I got to the cashier. My friend was right behind me at the time, and went to grab some paper napkins to wipe up the spill. The napkins were not very effective though, so I decided to inform a staff member to get a rag or someone to help clean up the spill. But before I even walked two steps away from the spill my food was still sitting on the counter and it was obvious I was going to come back to deal with the spill, the African American lady who was working at the cash register shouted to me over the other customers, “You better not leave that mess there! You better clean that up!” I felt humiliated. Not only is it not my job to clean up such “messes” in the first place as a customer, but I felt like this rude comment was directed at me in particular because I was a small Asian female, who likely would have likely taken the humiliation and not spoken up. Surely, if I were a Physician or Professor, she would have never spoken at me in the same manner. Furthermore, when my friend and I finally cleaned up our “mess” which took 10min out of our lunch break and left sticky syrup all over my dress, the same woman at the cash register intentionally overcharged our lunch combo meals, which we didn’t realize until afterwards, due to how embarrassed we were about the whole incident. We clearly both purchased the Toula’s combo, which we told her and also showed her, yet she charged us the $6.99 for the normal combo meal instead of $5.65 for the featured meal. Clearly, she is either incompetent at her job, or did this maliciously and in a discriminatory manner. I feel that as a student and employee of this university, I should not have to face such discrimination and humiliation just to purchase a meal at your hospital cafeteria. I overpaid for my meal, had someone shout at me and humiliate me in front of my colleague as well as strangers, and ruined my outfit for the day because I was trying to do the right thing and clean up a spill I unintentionally made, while the cashier did not allow me to seek assistance from the cleaning staff and wasted 10min of my lunch break. The staff at this cafe make the hospital and university look bad, and this cashier should be fired!
Great dining options. One of the best restaraunts in Oakland. Ed loves the Deli sandwiches. Phenomenal popcorn and ice tea. Justin and Jim like the chocolate pudding.
If you have a choice between the grilled chicken sandwich and a plate of cold dog poo....order the poo. Husband said the burger was ok.
They saved my mother's life and have gone above and beyond to see that she's receiving the best care possible. Wonderful staff and great people!
Presbyterian cafe hauses Starbucks coffee. You can get a dose of refreshment while you're in hospital or in nearby area and doesn't want to go down the hill.
They never gave me the coffee I asked for, only served me cream of slop and gave me items they knew I hated. Peas! Yuck!
Very pleasant to dine in and the staff are very friendly and amazing
For a hospital lots of options from quick snacks to dinner options.
