My hair turned out super pretty!! Malia was my stylist and did a good job. My only concerns were my 360 closure was wasted when they cut most of it off making my 2 bundles+360 look more like just 2 bundles. I'm not sure why soo much of the closure was cut but it was such a waste and I wasn't warned ahead of time. My other major concern was that my closure was over plucked so i had much thinner patches in the front which made it hard to conceal everyday. The style did not last long for those reasons cause it shed alot(cut wefts) so it wasn't worth it. I def would not have them do a 360 sew in for me again (because I couldn't reuse my 360) unless I told them in advance that I did not want these things done. I may return for a regular sew in. The staff was nice just took 4 hours which I wasn't expecting(I was told 2.5).

I made my appointment with jasmine at 10AM(This was also for prom by the way). When I arrived at the salon at 9:55, the salon wasn't even open!! there was one other girl that also booked a 10 am appointment. When the salon finally opened at 10:45, no one apologized for the inconvenience. Anyways, one of the employees asked me what I was getting done & I said my natural hair in deep waves. So she proceeded to wash me & all while she was on the phone with Jasmine the owner of the salon. They were having a casual conversation, on speaker phone & the girl said by the way your client is here I'm washing her hair until you get here. & jasmine proceeded to say what client. I'm sitting there confused & she took her off speaker phone & jasmine then said "people be lying". So at this point, not only did the unprofessional individuals in this salon open the salon nearly a hour late the owner is calling her own clients liars. The girl then went in the back because one of the other employees told her to go in the back because you could still hear the conversation. At that point I pulled the girl aside & asked her who's doing my hair because if you don't know how to do it let me know so I could leave now. She then said oh don't worry about it, she's coming in to do your hair. She mentioned that there was more than one jasmine that worked at the salon. That was understandable but no one mentioned it while I was making my appointment. Overall, the experience was beyond terrible & I wouldn't recommend this salon that lacks professionalism to anyone!

I have been a customer of JazziMichelle for about 3 years. She is a very knowledgable, and genuine stylist! She never overcharges, prides herself on her craft, and is extremely flexible. I have had no other stylist for extensions or colors since I have moved to the DMV. Trust me she is worth every penny, and the PoshPlus hair is great as well. Both Jasmines are extremely talented stylists, excellent braiders, and masters with color! If you want hair that is guaranteed to last and look good you've found the spot @ Upper Echelon! Trust me you won't regret it :)!

This place is not too bad. I went here to receive a sew-in since my other stylist had become rather unprofessional. The presentation and aesthetics of the salon are rather neat, giving it a chill and upscale vibe. The stylists are pretty agreeable for the most part. Thankfully, they were able to accommodate me into the schedule of the one of stylists; she did an excellent job of doing my sew-in! I am impressed for the most part by her work, although I will see how the extensions hold up. HOWEVER, Upper Echelon's staff need to be more UPFRONT and FORTHCOMING about their prices and additional charges. Despite mentioning several times to my stylist - and although the receptionist and SEVERAL of the other staff also became aware - that I was a student at a local university, I was NOT informed that there was a student discount for installing extensions. I am sure that I asked about at least one other type of discount but was NOT told anything. When I went to pay, the stupid processing system that they use for debit/credit payments added an extra $15+ to an already expensive charge of $295+. I have NEVER seen a payment processing system add such a high amount in fees for any payment before, which seemed questionable. Although I know that making money is a priority for stylists, I thought it seemed slightly DECEITFUL that no one informed me of their student deal. Many previous stylists I have gone to at least made me aware of a student discount if they had one, as they knew doing so was SMART and forthright business. (I DID NOT FIND OUT ABOUT IT UNTIL LONG AFTER THE FACT WHEN I EXAMINED THEIR WEBSITE IN FURTHER DEPTH). Although I may go back given the quality of service in my first visit, I would definitely say make sure you exercise vigilance and be shrewd in dealing with Upper Echelon or they may unnecessarily make an extra buck off of you.

The 1 star is for removing my extensions which was done marginally well. I called and made an appointment for 4:30. They called me back and asked if I could come at 3:30 instead. I said no I couldn't but I could do 4 if that was alright. The receptionist I spoke with said yes 4 would work. I showed up at 3:50, check in, and sit down. 4:05 rolls around and I asked the receptionist if the time of my appointment changed back from 4 to 4:30. She said no, that it was for 4 pm and Jasmine, the stylist, would be here shortly. I said "excuse me, she's not even here?" The girl at the front desk said "no, she is at the beauty supply store and will be back soon." I said "oh wow, okay." 10 minutes pass by and I asked the front desk assistant to call and ask when she would be back. Another stylist was in the salon with a client and said, "Jasmine is at the store, she will be back soon." The receptionist called and repeated back "she'll be here soon." Around 4:23 Jasmine walks in and motions to me to come sit in the chair saying, "You can sit here." No apology, no sorry for the wait, no please excuse me for being late, no hello, nothing. The appointment lasted 7 minutes. What happened next is still a shock to me. After removing my extensions she says, "excuse me", then walked away. She then came back about a minute later and said, "I see you're writing a review and are unhappy about the experience. I don't feel comfortable with completing the service if you're unhappy and haven't yet given me a chance. And I feel that's very rude." I was not writing a review, I was messaging a Facebook group I am in about the experience, which I was not going to put on Yelp (clearly that has changed). I said "Wow, okay. You were late to my appointment and didn't even bother to apologize but I'm rude? Wow, okay." As I proceeded to grab my things, I asked her for a bag for my hair. The other stylist that was there said "no you cannot have a bag, you have been rude since the moment you got in so you can just take your things and leave no bag. She had to go to the beauty supply store, it happens, it's not a big deal. We asked you if you could make the 3:30 appointment but you said no and changed it to 4 pm." I told her that if 4 wasn't going to work then I should've been told that in advance. It started to become a back and forth and I was starting to become uncomfortable as they both proceeded to gang up on me; their voices escalating. Before I left, I turned around and said, "This was extremely professional. And this is why people don't support black businesses." The other stylist then followed me to the door telling me to get out and slammed it behind me, as they laughed. They being Jasmine and the receptionist at the front desk. I am still shocked this happened. The following afternoon, I called to speak with the owner about what happened. The receptionist answered the phone and said the owner was busy. I called back 30 minutes later and the receptionist said the owner was still busy. After I asked for the names of those involved, the receptionist proceeded to tell me all of that information was online and that I already left a bad review (Yelp) and am not even a customer so what am I even calling for. Most shocking of all, she then proceeded to say that it was *my* fault that the situation occurred. She said the owner was aware of what happened. Throughout this conversation, she kept putting me on hold and I got the sense she was communicating with someone else in the background. She put me on hold three separate times then hung up. I called back and asked if the owner was aware that she, the receptionist, was speaking to me this way and if this was common practice. She put me on hold, saying there was another customer on the line, then hung up after a minute. Hands down the worst experience I have ever had at a salon in my life. They have pretty pictures of their services however no hair style is worth what I went through, yesterday and today. Do not recommend, visit at your own risk.
