I had the opportunity to volunteer this summer (2017) and enjoyed every minute of it. Met some very wonderful people who visited the ship and also worked with a wonderful crew. If I am available I am definitely volunteering again in the future. I am so proud to honor all our military past and present as the saying goes: "some gave all all gave some". This year a War Dog Memorial was installed along with a list of dogs that were left behind during the Vietnam war. It truly is a beautiful, peaceful place to just walk and watch the movies that are shown on the ship and reflect on the sacrifices our service men and women along with their familes gave to our country and freedom. Peace to all who enter.

A great experience if you like history and/or ships. Being able to explore the whole place at your own pace is awesome.

This is amazing; they have done a wonderful job restoring the ship and there are numerous collections you can see (such as uniforms, helmets, letters, etc). We found it amazing being able to walk about the ship freely; many areas are completely accessible. The ship museum is ran by all volunteers and the reasonable tour fee is used in continuing to restore the ship. We were visiting Muskegon from out of town and are so glad we went. I highly recommend.

Very neat ship. Quirky collection. Kids loved it but not for little ones because you are touring the ship on many levels. Lot of walking. Warm on hot days.

Absolutely loved this. My family spent well over two hours in this museum, even my 7 & 9 year olds thought it was amazing!!! We would definitely visit it again if we were in the area.
