If you are from out of town. Meaning, not Mormon, you will not find this place helpful or refreshing. They look down on people in need like most Republicans. Most have been there a long time and just waiting for retirement. Not the best city overall for out of towner’s or people in need unless you are connected to the church(s) somehow. It’s a weird place this Southern Utah. The median age is, 71, meaning it’s a bunch of old people who somehow have and endless cash flow and archaic ideals. They dictate the direction of the towns. Most of the people in the office seem to hate people and their job but that’s normal for this town. I remember approaching someone who worked there, they were looking right at me and turned and walked away. It was weird. Anyway. Best of luck. If you make more than 1600 a month..... for a family. Good luck getting help. They are not generous with the help. They make it extremely hard to live here or survive Their definition of homeless is literally sleeping in the streets. Even if it’s in your car it is borderline not homeless. Unless you have at least one child. If you are inconveniently sleeping on a couch in someone’s already too full house , even if it’s a different house and couch every night, you are not considered homeless unless u have a child. We all know that is beyond ridiculous. Anyway. I say, you are better off somewhere else.

Even though the Federal Government pays the state to conduct this service. Utah is handling the food stamp program worse than any other state I have had experience with (which includes: Oregon, Washington, Idaho, & Wisconsin) Utah is the most difficult to contact, takes the longest times for "processing" and causes the most confusion for steps needed to take. I should be thankful for getting any food stamps at all, but I am also learning that there are very different standards in how the individual states are conducting this federal program. I would encourage the feds to investigate Utah Workforce Services and find out where that money is really going.
