I ate here 7 years ago on my birthday. Looking back on my life, the salmon dinner with the white beans was the best meal I have ever eaten. Ever. Highly recommend!!!

I had a delightful birthday lunch inside this charming 1800s inn. The red sangria was refreshing on the 90-degree day. The Inn Salad, with arugula, strawberries, shaved fennel, crumbled blue cheese, toasted almonds, and black pepper balsamic vinaigrette, was a perfect light starter. The jumbo lump crab cake was fresh, lightly battered, served with crispy Cajun potatoes, lime and caper aioli, and red pepper jam -- best tasting crab I've had in a long time. For desert, I had the Pavlova with lemon curd and fresh berries with a frothy cup of cappuccino. Our server was a friendly young attentive woman who knew how to make a guest feel at home. Lunch was followed with a two-hour hike along scenic Wissahickon Trial. The day could not have been better.

We've eaten here a number of times and it's become a favorite place not only for us but for my incredibly fussy, almost 90 year-old mother. If The Valley Green Inn is beloved by Mom, it's pretty remarkable. Mother's Day here was wonderful, one cold evening we were practically the only people in the restaurant and the fireplace was roaring, the food special, the service perfect.

When asked to see a menu to decide if we should eat there or not was given a "sample" menu instead. Just listed some items and gave price range for all. Decided to try it. After sitting down got a real menu and the cheapest thing on that was at the top of the sample menu price range expensive. When I asked about it was given no real answer. We were tired and hungry and mistakenly decide to stay anyway. We ordered and after a while our waitress came back and told us "things were happening". None of us understood what that meant. After about 45 minutes went to try to find some one to ask about our food. After 54 minutes with no answers we decided to cut our losses and just left. There were very few people there so it is not like they were busy or that the waitress had a lot of tables. The place is expensive, $16 for a burger, slow, unresponsive, and not trust worthy.
