If you’re hungry at Vancouver International airport & nothing’s open, BIG URBAN CAFE down by gates C44, 45 & 46 is a very great choice. I’ve never had more pleasant, friendly or professional service at ANY airport cafe or restaurant & the pastries there are very fresh & better product for the money! The Korean girl there is so hard working and sharp:)

Vancouver Airport is a fairly smooth running airport. The staff are always friendly and accommodating, especially the information assistants. Everything is fairly well sign posted in both French and English. There is lots of seating and lots of places to plug your devices in once you are through security and waiting at the gate. The restaurant choices especially in the international departures before security are very poor! Unless you want fast food you have two choices both are over priced and the food is mediocre. The choices on the other side are not much better, it will be particularly difficulty to find some good food at a sit down place if you are vegetarian/vegan. For the size of the place I feel they should focus a little more on food options as apposed to giant duty free stores offering nothing new or different.

As a local, I'm always happy to know that when I return home from a long trip, I get to fly into my favourite airport. Beautifully redesigned nearly a decade ago, and still feels luxurious. Short-Term Parking can be busy sometimes, but I've never driven around for longer than 5min looking for a spot. Pickup and dropoffs never feel too rushed.

You don't have to listen to me or others here. YVR has been voted the best North American airport by many people multiple times consistently. There is everything you need inside the airport. Wifi is great; you have charging stations almost everywhere; almost all kinds of eating spots - from fast-food to fancy restaurants; washrooms within small distances; there are places for kids to play; for you to watch flight take-offs and landings. You can easily spend up to 24 hours in the airport without getting bored at all.

Bought a expensive bottle of champagne at Santa Ana airport. We bought inside at wine store on inside of security while waiting to board. Clerk advised we could take bottle in carry on. We had connecting flight threw Vancouver to Calgary. We got to security check point in Vancouver and they confiscated the bottle of champagne plus the unopened bottle of smart water purchased at airport as well. It made no sense why security would take liquids in middle of flight. To say least I was unimpressed otherwise would not have purchased. I am pretty smart that way. Security said I could put it in checked baggage but we didn’t have any because our bags were going straight threw to Calgary. Duh. Anyways we will hopefully never have to go through Vancouver again for future flights. Totally disappointed.
