VanDerKolk Painting is a first class company from start to finish.  They attend to every detail in your home, starting with thorough prep and continuing all the way through the final precision paint job.  The crew was hard working, friendly, and trustworthy.  Great company to work with!

I set up a time to have someone come out and give us an estimate for some painting that we wanted done.  However, they cancelled the appointment when they saw our address {which is only 1/2 mile from their office}.  When I questioned why they cancelled the appointment, this is a shortened version of the response that I received.

"We charge about $60/hour for our services and we don't have a high closing ratio in your particular zip code. This is an extremely busy time of year and we need to prioritize our leads...we just have that many."

"For example, a painter working for one day is approximately $500/day plus materials. These rates are supported by other zip codes."

"I do not want to offend you...and perhaps we should have some language that clarifies this better. We do outstanding work and our business is over 50% repeat every year. Due to the unprecedented demand this season, I need to avoid working these 16 hour days...as you can see the time on Friday evening when I prefer to be home with the family."

Was I offended? YES!  They need to "prioritize" their leads?  Unbelievable that they would think our zip code {we live in Wyoming} defines us.  We have since gone with another company {same rates}.  And to complain about working sixteen hour days and telling me he would rather be home with his family than emailing me is just  terrible business practice.  I do not care how many hours a week he works, any more than he cares how many hours a week we work. I too own my own business and would never talk to a customer this way. I will NEVER refer this company to anyone, I will be doing the exact opposite.
