They are more corrupt and hungry then of any other village I know of. I can't say it here, but I had had many experiences.

Alternate parking is ridiculous, half the time the street sweeper doesn't even come down my block so what's the point? To keep their corrupt money flow going

The Village of Mineola serves it's people with a wide variety of services, parks, schools, busses, a train and local fare that anyone who's never been to Long Island should not miss. Pubs of note: The St. James, Eleanor Rigby, Caroll's Recovery Room, The Heart of Portugal, the Double H Pub, the Cornerstone and a host of other friendly places, serve this mixed language community well. Bodegas litter the streets, welcoming bi-linguists, Spanish and Portuguese speaking residents and those who speak only English. The community is filled with a number of Churches as well as the Nassau County headquarters of The Red Cross. Local fire department located across from Village Hall serves the community with pride. New condos threated the fabric of what Mineola always was, with the hope that integration with a more wealthy, urban vibe will integrate well with the existing community. As the historic Citibank building faces abolition and new Condos are ready to be raised, one can only wonder if Mineola is sitting at a crossroads, much as Long Island is as she grows more crowded and has to deal with rising taxes and diminished services for its community. Mineola, if anything, has always been filled with fighters, with people who will not let go, who know what's important and who, if they must, will bend with the times. Don't expect this community to break, however. At the heart of Nassau County, the Village of Mineola represents the very best of Long Island's spirit of togetherness, of grit and of a determination that the best days are yet to come, while never forgetting those that have gone by. It's only a few stops by train from just about anywhere in New York State. Might be a place to visit, or perhaps to get a second place for those who never dreamed of having a second place. With it being 70 degrees on Christmas Day on Long Island, it might just be the next "summer" community. Either way, Mineola is a must see for anyone visiting Long Island.
