We are lucky to have a resource like this in town. Before you drive all the way over to one of the "big box" stores in Hodgkins give Village True Value a try. In my experience the staff here are more knowledgable than the guys in the orange aprons and they are a heck of a lot closer to home.

Jeff in paint is very knowledgeable very helpful. He was able to match a paint from another brand that wasn't "able" to be tinted that color. I would recommend them in heart beat.

I'm a consummate do-it-yourselfer. I come here all the time for parts and advice. Yes, the prices are higher with some products than a big box store, but you won't wander around trying to find an employee to help you. Perfect place for home projects.

BEST STORE! They have absolutely everything; will order anything for you; have a knowledgeable and very helpful sales staff. A REAL hardware/general store! Much better, and as inexpensive as those Big Box stores. Western Springs is lucky to have Johnson's True Value --- and it was in the movie "Contagion" with Matt Damon. Look for it!

I was there today for the first time. I needed a part that cost less than $2 and they opened up the box for a $100 tool to make sure it would fit, so that I did not need to make a second trip. You do not see that very often. EXCEPTIONAL. Also there is a review on here from a former employee that I feel should not be there. It says the store is greet but is a bad place to work. What does that have to do with whether it is a good place to shop?
