Virginia Episcopal School is a college preparatory, independent boarding/day school for students in grades 9-12. Founded in 1916, VES is located near the Blue Ridge Mountains in residential Lynchburg, Virginia.

Story

VES is a college preparatory, coeducational, boarding and day school serving students in grades 9 – 12. Located in Lynchburg, VA, VES sits on 160 acres in the heart of Central Virginia. A blend of 245 young men and women, day students and boarding students from all over the U.S. and the world, our campus is a meeting place for diverse perspectives and global cultures where students learn from and respect each other. The student body is composed of 67% boarding and 33% day school students; 54% male, 46% female; and 22% international students.

The principles of our school’s founder, Bishop Jett, ring as true in 2016 as they did in 1916: we guide students to strive toward their full stature in their academic, ethical, spiritual and personal growth. At the heart of the school is delivering an exceptional VES experience—one that offers the best teachers, innovative programs and a vibrant and contemporary learning environment.
