Just meh. Food wasn't the best that I've had. They market this as an upscale place but it's typical hotel food. Decent enough place to eat if you're staying there, but way better options in the near vicinity.Food: 3/5
We had a great dinner there this past fall 2018. My dining partner and I wanting to order two different things, the steak with gorgonzola and the gnocchi, the waitress asked us if we wanted the chef to split the two items between us, which we happily agreed to do. Delicious pairing and amazing gnocchi. Our friend who joined us had a full order of gnocchi which he agreed was perfect. Modern interior. Attentive staff. Follow up visit in early May this year 2019: We returned to share the same two entrees we did last fall they were so delicious: The steak and the gnocchi. With restaurants, chefs or buyers for their menu items can change, so this visit was not as impressive. Our food was good but not exceptional as our first time. The grilled sirloin steak seemed to be of lesser quality and the gnocchi con funghi was quite overcooked with a brown crust. Plenty of mushrooms, however. This chef did not split our two dinners for us in the kitchen either. We each got one entree and were told to split them ourselves. The bread, olive tapanade and bowl of olives that comes with your meal is still good, and our waitress did go and find some white bread for us when one of us couldn't eat seeds. A friend who joined us liked his bolognese alla rigatoni very much. The atmosphere is spacious and pleasing decor wise. Our drinks were well made. There is a large wine selection, too. The appetizer portion of the menu could use a little variety as there's nothing we have felt like ordering this visit or the previous one. Photos from May meal below. First dinner 2018, dinner photos can be seen under Marriott Hartford Downtown, as Vivo is in this hotel's lobby.
Recently it seems good food and good service are very hard to find regardless of the restaurant. So when we had the breakfast buffet at Vivo we were surprised! Natalie our waitress, the chef and rest of the staff get 5 stars all around! The food was amazing and everyone we encountered went out of their way to make for an amazing experience! The chef offered to make my kids whatever the wanted! Kid-friendliness: Plastic cups, kid friendly food choices, staff treated my children very well!
Delicious food and very reasonably priced! I highly recommend the flat breads - they're very large and the best meal I have ever had at a convention!
The most amazing breakfast buffet and the staff are so pleasant and sweet! Love eating here *****
Food was delicious. Gluten free options are available including a bun for burgers. Highly recommend small plates. This is not a cheap restaurant but food is worth it and so is convenience if your staying in the hotel.
One of the better places to get breakfast in a hotel. Prices are ok nothing special. Staff is friendly and helpful The offerings have been reduced drastically since the pandemic. I miss the fresh omelets and larger varieties they had offered in the pastFood: 3/5
Great food, very polite staff and fast service. Great location too
I love the settings and the atmosphere. It’s lovable! I would have rate this five stars if only things went the way it should be. And I completely understand it was a holiday, so I had my patience with everything that was going wrong the minute we sat down. Despite that, I honestly highly recommend this place for guys who are looking to make their girl happy! Because it’s also reasonable price:!!
Excellent food and, usually, great service make this one of the premier places in Hartford to grab breakfast. I have not had lunch here, but have been by frequently for breakfast and the food has never disappointed. It usually comes out quickly and with complimentary refills of coffee and juice, it really hits the spot. And for the kind of place it is, and being part of a hotel, you might expect exorbitant prices, but it’s actually not too bad at all and is a splendid great before heading into work in the morning. Just make sure to get there before 11 for breakfast as they so stop serving around then. The decor is okay for a more upscale restaurant and the service has varied from phenomenal to lacking. The phenomenal times have had me greeted kindly, served promptly, and checked on frequently to make sure everything was to my liking. Most of the servers know my face and what I want to eat by heart. Complimentary newspapers have also been available, but it’s hit or miss in that respect; it might have to do with when you arrive and availability. The lacking times here have primarily been due to server inattention and long waits for food. They have been few and far between, but one particularly poor experience was me introducing my girlfriend to the place and treating her to breakfast. Ended up wishing I hadn’t. Took way too long for the food and our server was completely absent. That alone knocked this down a star.
