All volunteer Fire Dept. that helped people stranded on I-80 in a snow storm, put out fires where ever asked even out side the city, assists the city in parades during Walcott Days.... And they all have day jobs. I don't think the few minutes of sirens through out the day are as hard to deal with as the reason they go off. And there is only one house closer to them than Grandmas. Well Done Firemen, WELL DONE!

Hate the fricking annoying emergency siren that goes off for anything from fires, hazmat at the Truckstop (I wish they had their OWN firemen), etc. The freaking thing is obnoxious and deafening. There should be an obeyed ordinance about not causing permanent hearing damage. I literally plug my ears (stopping whatever I'm doing) every single time that darned stupid thing goes off. Volunteer firemen's ego: 1; population of Walcott, Iowa ASAP: -1....keep it up, dummies.
