Not sure I agree with many of the reviews for this Walgreens. Yes, prices can be on the higher side compared with places like Safeway and other grocery stores (there's savings through the Walgreens rewards program). But it's location is invaluable - it's less than a minute away from Sproul Hall/Sather Gate. Very convenient when you need a necessity and you can't go all the way to Trader Joe's, for example. I have tried the pharmacy once to get a prescription which I was able to get quite easily. Plus, there's the Tang Center a couple minutes away down the street for pharmaceutical needs. It's located on the busy Telegraph Ave and it can be crowded but customer service is pretty good (they had a temporary checkout line once when it was really crowded).

I've been here a number times since coming to the area, and I've never been terribly impressed with it for various reasons, but after my latest trip I've decided to make it my last. Their prices aren't great, especially for groceries,  but that's excusable. What isn't is their horrible customer service and management. On a number of occasions, the cashiers have seemed disorganized, inconsiderate, and simply do not care about doing a good job. I've seen customers getting yelled at when there are long lines, with the cashiers impatiently rushing them through, making shoppers feel uncomfortable and awkward at checkout (which is not a good way to attract those customers back the next time they need to shop). But my experience hit a low after the store ran out of grocery bags (something I have never seen happen in a store) and I was asked to carry my groceries home in garbage bags. I seriously considered asking for a return then and there, because I knew it would be a pain lugging my week's groceries back home, a number of uphill blocks away, but my hand was forced as I was too tired and needed groceries. I have never had such a bad experience at any store, let alone such an established branch such as Walgreens. I used to rely on Walgreens for my shopping needs, but I will be doing my shopping elsewhere from now on.

Always extremely crowded, the prices are ridiculously high, and the staff is understandably short with all the customers. Not a gem in anyway use instacart or go to Sam's.

I just keep watching people put their items back and walk out the door because this place is so understaffed and so disorganized that they couldn't figure out how to find out of a wet paper bag if their life depended on it. don't come here!

The pharmacy hours are pitiful. When I have emergencies and go to the ER and have painkillers subscribed, they are never open for me to go pick them up. Unfortunately, this is the closest one to the dorms where I live and because I'm in pain I cannot walk far. Therefore, I have to pay for an uber to take me to the one on Shattuck. But, it gets worse. Because the pharmacy isn't open on telegraph whenever I need them to be they cannot transfer over the control meds to the walgreens on Shattuck. So, I suffer.
