We were led us to a very small room without introductions or condolences. It was very cold because the heat was broken. Which was being fixed during our meeting with occasional very loud banging noises.meeting started with the question of if my dad had a pace maker. We said no and instead of leaving it at that he went on to explain that if someone did and they didn't know about it the batteries in them were known to explode during the process. It was evident that we were all very upset by this comment. (I was unable to sleep the next night due to a reoccurring dream of this visual I kept having of this happening)We asked them why no signs or flowers has been placed at the house to show respect. We were told they had very few of them and they were in Hillsboro and if we wanted them they would go get them and bring them. Which they did after I told them I had expected that to be something I didn’t expect to have to ask for.We asked for a video to be played of pictures of dad and our family. He said the person that makes that isn’t there anymore and their projector was also broken. He would be happy to bring in a TV and if I put the pictures on a thumb drive or CD he would play it. I ended up making the slide show and having to bring my lap top to hook it into the TV to play it at the church, so we would have music. I gave him a thumb drive with a picture we wanted made into an 8X10 for the service. He said that they video guy that was no longer there usually did that ( or something to that effect) but he would get the picture if I could get the frame and stand for it, so I did. (When we got to the church the quality picture was terrible. On very cheap thin paper. I would’ve loved for him to at least told us ahead of time of his difficulties to make it look nice so I couldn’t done it better or prepared myself) We went through the remainder of paper work and he went to get the obituary to proofread and it was terribly written. We went through it and rewrote it and made correction to where the punctuations needed to be and put the correct last name on it. He retyped it and it was good. While waiting we asked for water and was told there was none so My husband drove down the road and got water. I asked him, if I chose to, would it be ok to see dad again. (Dad passed after I left the hospital and I hadn't seen him after that. I was just feeling very lost and wasn’t sure if I wanted to or needed to see him one more time) he said that I could the next day when I brought the pictures by ( I was supposed to bring by the pictures the next day) because of the cooler they had him in, he couldn’t pull him out of by himself. I just simply couldn't get over how graphic and cold and uncaring his comments were. Before leaving we made it very clear we wanted my dads thumb print. He said that would not be a problem. We all left with an uneasy feeling and unsure that things were going to be handled properly. I made the video and put it on a drive and brought it over the next day. I chose not to see dad because I was afraid of what impression I may be left with and the last time I saw him, I had washed his face and remember him looking so beautiful to me. I felt I needed to be left with that. I asked about the finger prints and a secretary said she would have to look in to it, as she stood holding a baby and let me know she was baby sitting and asked if I would email her and give her the picture we wanted the 8x10 in to make sure they had the right one and she gave me the email address. We told them we expected over 250 people at minimum to be at the service. We wouldn't need a family car as we wanted to be with our families and there wasn't room for us all and they only had one car. We arrived at the church at 315, with the service starting at 4. There was no one to greet us at the door to take us somewhere to be together to wait, we had to put the extremely poor quality picture in the frame ourselves . if continued to be disorganized and we never got the thumb print.
