The worst experience... Choosing a college for my master degree was tedious, and I decided to go with Walsh due to the programs offered. The long and short of my experience with Walsh is that the instructors were inept to "teach." The inability to educate on multiple technological platforms, unwillingness to communicate openly with students, and hoops that Walsh makes a student jump through are UNACCEPTABLE. Think twice before you over-spend at this sorry excuse of an institution. Education should be openly accessible to people who are shelling out hundreds of thousands of dollars, and any organization that calls itself a "college" should nurture students that are ready to work hard and excel in their studies. SHAME ON YOU WALSH.

Overall, Walsh is pure status quo with historical underpinnings embracing conformity. If you are an active critical thinker, Walsh is more high school extended than intellectually escalating. In fact, it's current president was a former high school principal. Finally, it closed its modern pool, a wondrous facility that the founding brothers were both intent and proud. It is a college dominated by commuter students so do not expect a time honored or classic residential university.

Walsh is a four-year Liberal Arts college with about 3000 students (grad plus undergrad) enrolled there. It is a Catholic school affiliated with the Brothers of Christian Instruction, a rather small order. They offer multiple programs for Assoicate's degrees and Baccaluareate studies and they also have select, seeemingly high quality grad programs in Nursing and other Medical Sciences, Counseling, Theology, Business and Education. My wife, as a Nursing Educator, has a very high opinion of their Nursing program in particular. My daughter attended Walsh and graduated with her Bachelor's Degree this year in Psychology and Sociology. After witnessing my daughter's education experience, I have come away with a reasonably positive impression. Her academic training was quite good from my perspective and it allowed her to get into a doctoral program in her chosen field. She made lifelong friends there as well as establishing relationships with some of the faculty that will also be longlasting. And the location could not have been better. The safety factor was excellent and the surrounding area was rather nice in my opinion. There were places across the street to grab groceries, a burger, a coffee or an ice cream. There was also sufficient parking for resident students such that she could keep a car during the last three years of her tenure. That allowed access to other amenities in the Canton area when desired. Nowhere are you going to be free of politics or red tape and Walsh has some of that, especially with housing. If I had one complaint, that would likely be the subject of my grievance. Not only do their policies regarding the assignment of housing need to be revamped (in fact, I understand that there will be substantive changes in the coming Academic year, hopefully for the better), they also need to take a look at their costs. They shift some of the expense of attendance to the cost of room and board, ostensibly to keep tuition lower and more attractive. They then require students who cannot claim residence within 50 miles to live on campus all four years. They make it very difficult if not impossible for non-locals to choose off-campus housing. This would not be as problematic if they had sufficient housing to accommodate everyone but there were some issues with that based on our experience. The on-campus living arrangement greatly affects a student's college experience so this is something to which they should direct some scrutiny. But overall, I would say this is a very good institution and it is not as onerous as some private institutions when it comes to cost. I feel like we/she got our money's worth and it facilitated getting to the next level with her education. I believe she is well prepared. And I think her student experience was rather positive. She will look back on her years there with generally fond memories. I should also say something about the campus from a visitor's point of view. I often like to visit college campuses when I am traveling just to get a feel for the quirks and idiosyncrasies of different places. This campus struck me as rather attractive the first time we visited. The buildings tend to be newer and the facilities are well kept for the most part. The landscaping is nicely maintained to present a positive impression. The Student Union presents quite a good first face for visitors. If you are interested in simply seeing the campus, it is a nice place for a ten- or fifteen-minute stroll.

Best small campus around. It's nothing crazy but it is just a nice, well made campus.
