I'm a chorister at the Cathedral; I just started this year. Anyone thinking of visiting should definitely do so! I'm not just telling you too come watch me sing - you might not think it possible, but the decorations within the elaborately decorated walls of the cathedral are even more dazzling than the awe-inspiring carvings outside! Even though I frequent the place as I am a chorister, I always take time to admire the structures that expertly skilled craftspeople took over a hundred years to chip. My favorite place, or places rather, is the huge three- section mural of the sun and moon and God at the center that is carved into the arcs above the main doors. Also, visit former President Woodrow Wilson's tomb. Have fun visiting!

This is a very beautiful piece of architecture and well worth visiting to get a feel for it. It's setting is designed to emphasise the peacefulness and this enhances its purpose. Its design is on a par with the other great cathedrals, some of which are centuries older, and it will draw you back again and again. On the day we visited, we were lucky to have bright, clear sunshine and the stained glass windows filled the cathedral with colour. One window to watch out for is the one dedicated to space. After visiting the cathedral, don't hurry away as there is a beautiful garden in the grounds where you can sit and contemplate the wonders of our world. This truly promotes the glory of God and through design, the beauty of his works.

Fantastic visit! Gorgeous cathedral with a fascinating story and wonderful guides. Take the guided tour, you'll learn so much more than going around on your own. Give yourself a couple of hours here to view all of the chapels, and spaces. Take the gargoyle tour if you can too! I've been here a few times and it's better every time.

The National Cathedral is quite an amazing site. The history woven into its creation is incredible. Although it's not as easily accessible as sites along the National Mall, I would recommend spending a few hours here if you get the chance. If you do, be sure to check out the upper levels as well as the main church. And Star Wars fans should head outside to spot the Darth Vader "gargoyle" on the roof. This is a pretty incredible work of architecture and artistry.

Absolutely awesome cathedral. I had no idea there were such cathedrals outside Europe. Very authentic, somehow, yet very young. I did the Behind the Scenes tour, which is a bit steeply priced at a $15 extra, but it is so cool to go through all those doors that say, "Access Denied"! Don't forget to check out the basement - it houses 3 additional, beautiful chapels. The guides were very knowledgeable and knew how to tell a good story. Awesome!
