I have had 5 interactions with the Sheriff's Department. Out of five, two of the officers treated me like a decent human being. The other three were either having a bad day when I met them. Or we just jerks. Who knows.

Ammon has a message for today's police. Be offended if you will, but he speaks the truth. 

"An observation that has been forcefully confirmed upon me inside these walls, is that as soon as a person gets some authority, they almost always begin to use that authority to control or compel other people. 
Because of the nature of man kind, it is vitally crucial for the security of mankind that we end the militarization of our police force. Escalated force will only bring about escalated resistance. The decision to militarize our police force was not of God and is contrary to the principles of freedom. It MUST be resisted and abandoned. 

In every situation a police officer must approach with the sincere intent to deescalate, respecting all people as equal, making great efforts not to control, not to arrest, and not to use force in anyway. The success of a police officer is to bring peace to every situation without taking life or liberty. Shooting someone or arresting someone is contrary to their very purpose. People hire a police officer to IMPROVE their happiness and safety, Not to incarcerate or to kill them.  As a police officer you can not take the life, liberty or properties of the people, treating them unequal, and expect the people to respect you. It is by honor that honor is gained. It is an eternal principle that applies to ALL people. Rich, poor, black, white, male, female, the felon, the preacher, the mother, the immigrant.

We the People long to honor them that protect. But when the Protector turns to Abuser, A protest of disgust and dishonor is the result.  Much like a father who receives great love and honor from his wife and children for his love and protection, but if he becomes the aggressor that threatens and uses force his family will fear and despise him and see to rid themselves of him. 

Sheriffs and captains, sergeants and chiefs, train your men to love and respect the people. Train them to bring peace to every situation. Take your hands OFF your guns and keep your cuffs in your pouch. Build trust once again with the people. Even soccer moms have become afraid of you. Abandon this culture of force inside your departments. You can not force people to be good. YOU are putting your men, the people, and the future of this country in great danger by training your department to use force first rather than respect and kindness."

A Sherriff rolls through a residential neighborhood at over 40 miles an hour 10 minutes after a parade with kids everywhere. There was a bit of an emergency but is it worth risking the lives of the kids and dogs to get there 10 seconds faster? I call the office to complain and nobody answers.

Thank you guys for all your hard work I liston to the scanner and you guys have to handle a lot of stuff and really bad everyday . I love how friendly your officers are in passing and how understanding you guys are  thank you for keeping us safe. May all the angles be watching over in during your shifts so you can return home safe.

Lots of negative reviews here, so I think I'll balance them out a bit.  I work front desk at a local motel on graveyard shift and the Sheriff's dept. has never let me down.  They've always come when I call, arrive quickly, and have resolved every situation in a professional and decisive manner.  Negative reviews come from negative people.  I've seen the best of the Weber Co. Sheriff's Dept. during some pretty bad situations.  Thanks for your service!
