I'm a 20-year customer of Wells Fargo. During that time, I had very little interaction with them as my banking needs are minimal. I just needed a plain old bank, with online services & easy access to ATM's anywhere. I also have a credit union account, but I used it minimally due to limited ATM access. When I first opened my account with Wells Fargo, it was a simple personal savings account with a free checking account. Neither one would ever generate any fees, as long as I kept the minimum balance in the savings (I think $50) & had the attached free checking account. Good deal. I continued to bank like this for YEARS without issue. Then a few years ago, I noticed a "SERVICE FEE" on my statement. When asked about it, they said it was a monthly service fee for not meeting the minimum requirements of the account. I of course was shocked. I told them there MUST be an error, as my account parameters have been clear for DECADES & I was well within them. That's when it all started.... The rep informed me that my account had changed to a new kind of account, & that the old account type I had "was no longer available". I of course told them that I was NEVER informed of this change, nor did I consent to it. They told me that they didn't need my consent to "update" my account to a new kind of account if the old one was eliminated from their product line. Okay.... so what's the new deal here? How do I get rid of the fees on this new account? To which they replied that I simply needed to do what I did before, but now I just needed to have direct deposit on this account as well. Fine. Done. Many moons later, I noticed another service fee on the account. So I went back again to find out that my account was AGAIN changed because THAT type of account was now eliminated from their product line. To which of course I said "let me guess, I now need to do something ELSE to avoid the fees?". Yup. They said on top of everything from before, I now need to also have a automatic monthly transfer of at least $25 from checking into savings as well. "It's how we help you save money" they said. I was LIVID. So you're telling me I need to manage my money the way YOU want me to or you're going to charge me for it?!?! Well, it wasn't a big inconvenience for me to transfer $25 to my savings every month so I decided to just do it. Funny thing is that they said I didn't even have to keep the transferred money in the savings. I could transfer it right back to the checking account the same day if I wanted to. SO STUPID. Anyway... So things were fine again... for a few months. Then ANOTHER fee, and now it has DOUBLED. I'm absolutely PISSED. I go to the bank AGAIN, & they tell me AGAIN that my previous account was eliminated AGAIN, & now I have to do something else, AGAIN. Now I need to use my ATM card to make an "authorized purchase" at least 6 times per month. SERIOUSLY?!?! You're already forcing me to manage my money in a manner I don't want to, now you're forcing me to make purchases in a manner I don't want to?!?! What's my incentive? I get lots of rewards & points for using my credit cards, which is why I use them to purchase things. Do I get rewards for using the ATM card? HELL NO. I just get to watch them make money off of MY purchases & all I get is to avoid yet MORE fees. Whatever... I'm too busy to bother with such bullsh*t. I'll just use my ATM to buy gum or something. 3 months later... another fee. Now I need to do EVERYTHING from before, plus make TEN MORE purchases a month with my ATM card. Ya know.... My credit union HASN'T CHARGED ME A DIME IN 20 YEARS, gives me higher returns on savings, and 0.9% rates on loans. They also now have ATMs EVERYWHERE. I think they deserve ALL of my banking business. Thank you Wells Fargo for helping me make the right decision in my banking endeavors. I'm gleefully closing my Wells Fargo account today, and giving them the finger when I do it. I hope you all do too. It's OUR money. We don't have to stand for this abuse.

I have very unhappy experiences with this office, not only once. This first time, I was asked to open an CD and the rep told me that I got to keep the CD for at least one year to avoid penalties. I withdrew the CD after one year, and got $10 penalties after taking into account of the one year interest. I thought, 10 bucks is fine, not a big deal. The second time, I need my bank statement showing $3000 more than what I have. I initially wanted to ask my relative to get the additional money. I told the bank clerk about that. She suggested me that to get a loan from Wells Fargo and it's interest FREE. She kept mention it is FREE of interest couple time. So, I decided to take the loan instead of asking my aunt for the money. I just need to show to someone I have that much money and actually I never used that money. A couple weeks later, I got a statement showing an interest charge of $97, I sent TWO emails asking the bank rep. how to deal with this issue and received NO response. I went the office the day before the interest due date. The same bank rep. served me and told me that I can pay the loan back right away and there is MINIMUM INTEREST of $97. She did not a SORRY to me till now, I was really unhappy even now, I will never ever go to this office any more. They are all liers. I trust them, but they lied to me. If you sign anything with the bank, please scrutinize them VERY carefully, it may be DIFFERENT from what they have said. One star only. ------------------------ Here is the follow up: The bank returned the $97 on 06/12/2014. I decided to forgive them. Besides the above mentioned two issues, they have been providing pretty good services so far. Hope those unhappy things won't come up again. I changed one star to three stars for the review.
