Re-flashed my chimney and now it doesn't leak!

We have used Welte roofing for the past 20+ yrs on all our roofing issues on our 100+ year old large house. They have done an outstanding job every time. They come quickly, take photos to show you the issue before they start the work, I have never needed them to come back to re-repair a part of the roof they had previoulsy fixed. The only downside is that they are a bit expensive...but you do get what you pay for with them. ADDENDUM: I had Welte come out for another repair on my roof (it is a very old home) after I had gotten a quote from Erie Construction. Erie told me I needed a whole new roof and it would cost $27K. Welte then came out and said my roof was in perfect condition and the issue was the dormer windows above the roof – the wood was rotten and rain water was leaking in through the windows and wall down to the room below. This made a lot more sense with the fact that when it rained, it would often not start leaking until 2 -3 hrs into the rain. I am not sure why Welte has a low star rating on google reviews but what I can tell you is they saved me $27K and they are HONEST. This is hard to come by these days. (FYI I only called Erie Contraction as Welte said they would not be able to come out right away and I wanted it dealt with ASAP).

05/03/2017 I contacted Welte Roofing about raccoon damage in the corner of a valley in my roof. I specifically asked for an adjuster to come to the house when I was home to give an estimate on the repairs. I was told I would be called back with availability. 05/05/2017 I was called and told that no one would be available during the evenings or weekends when I was available. So, unpreferably, I agreed someone could come even though I wouldn't be there at the time. 05/08/2017 An adjuster had come during the day when I was at work. That late afternoon, I received a call from him (Jeremy), he told me it was a couple hour job and that the rates are $200 for the first hour and $175 after that. I then asked for an estimated total cost and was told around $500. He said that I would get a one day notice when someone would come to do the work. At the time of the call, I said I would call back with a decision as I had other estimates to consider. 05/09/2017 I called Welte Roofing back and agreed to estimated cost and arrangement that I would receive a call when the job could be done. 05/17/2017 I was called and told that someone would be out Thursday or Friday of that week. On the phone, we agreed on Friday bc someone would be home at the time during the day. 05/19/2017 The roofers pulled in the driveway at 744a, they began the job a bit after confirming the damage. They were here approx 3.5 hours, leaving the property a few mins after 1110. During the time they were here the only conversations had regarding the work was to confirm the location of the damage and to provide and extension cord and power. 05/25/2017 I received a non-itemized invoice in the mail for the job, 870$ even. After reviewing the non-itemized invoice, seeing it was well over and near double the estimate, I figured the costs labor and materials at cost (trying to determine how the bill came to 870$): The 3.5 hours ($637.5 labor), the supposed replaced 3 shingles, 6' of decking, 2' of valley, and installed ice guard. Looking over their repairs, the roofers did not replace 2' of valley, what they did was they slid a small piece of flashing (maybe 6") under the damaged piece and caulked it in. It looks highly unprofessional, and the ice guard looks a lot like plain tar paper to me. In addition, there is still an open opportunity for an animal to reopen the damaged area to get in. The retail cost of the amount of material used to my calculations is around $30 but definitely not more than $50 (to a total of $687.5 including their labor). 05/26/2017 I called the company to ask about the discrepancy in cost vs. the work completed. I spoke with Jeremy. I was treated very rudely, was interrupted when expressing my concerns, was mocked, and laughed at until I admittedly slightly lost my cool for a moment. I was also now informed that I was being charged for the travel time (an hour to drive from Castle Shannon to West Mifflin) so the total was 4.5 hours. This is the first I heard anything about travel time (from any contractor let alone this one). Jeremy then asked me if I was unhappy with the amount of money I was charged or work performed, my answer was that I am unhappy with the amount charged for such poor craftsmanship. My response was not comprehensible as he insisted it had to be one or the other, cost or the job I was unhappy with. When I asked for an itemized statement and where the added cost came from, again I was laughed at and told about the cost of a "professional roofing company". I haven't ran into many professional operations that will NOT supply a itemized receipt (just a total cost $870.00, approx %50 higher than the estimated cost) for again I say terrible craftsmanship. I am not opposed to pay for the services performed, however the bill received does not align with the description of labor and rates which were previously agreed upon and supplied in the company's maintenance brochure.

We recently contracted Welte to service our roof and replace damaged slate tiles. Unfortunately, following the original service date, I had to contact them and point out exposed wood (I am no roofing expert but can spot if a slate it missing---the $445 inspection and repair was to pick up on this). They told me they were coming back out and would repair this at no extra charge. After supposedly coming back out (I was not home), the wood was still exposed. I contacted them again, and their repair team told the sales dept it was repaired, but it wasn't. I will not be contracting w/ this company again.
