Wenatchee Public Library is part of the North Central Regional Library system in Washington state.
Wenatchee’s first library was opened to the public in 1912 after the city received $10,000 from the Carnegie Corporation to fund the project. By 1930, the library had become too small for the community, and the children’s materials were moved to another location. In 1939, the library moved to a larger building, and plans were soon made to build a new library for the city of Wenatchee.
The current library was opened for service in 1959, and the building
has been carefully maintained and rearranged to meet our community’s changing needs. There were no major or structural renovations until 2013, when the Wade family generously donated funds to build an engaging and greatly expanded space for children’s books and services.
The mission of the North Central Regional Library is to promote reading and lifelong learning.
