Located on Denman St. just a few blocks from Stanley Park and English Bay, the West End Veterinary Clinic combines progressive medicine with a warm friendly atmosphere. The Doctors and staff go out of their way to make you and your four legged friend feel as though you are members of the family. This place gives you the sensation that all the staff wants is take money from you. I took my dog a month ago for a check up after an accident. The vet spent not even 5 minutes on him. After saying the dog was perfectly recovered and right before paying, the front door assistant suggested the vet to prescribed my dog any given medication. Even though I feel uncomfortable I ended up buying the medicine just in case. Later on, after taking to another vet In found out that the medicine was totally not necessary and that it could affect my dog due to secondary effects... I'm not taking my dog to this place anymore...

We have two rats and these guys always take care of us! They always follow up too. They truly care about us and our animals. So glad we have such a nice team near our home.

Dr Childs and staff are friendly, courteous and show a caring relationship with our new puppy, Mitzi  and are always willing to address our concerns re puppy raising and health issues. 

They are proactive with regard to teaching healthy techniques re "alpha" control, grooming and social behavior. And  demonstrate puppy social behavior for our energetic puppy who loves to lick, and chew. Great service.

Seen Dr Childs today as my dog had eye infection, even though he suffers from anxiety and is very hard to treat as a result,  Dr childs managed to do a check up and identity the issue.

All the experiences we've had with this vet clinic have been fantastic so far -- Dr. Childs and the staff really make an impressive effort to establish a personal connection, and as a result I feel like they really care about my cat's well-being. Their prices are a bit on the higher side, but they're not outrageous, and I'm happy to pay a bit of a premium to feel like I'm getting quality medical advice from people who care rather than contradictory opinions from unhelpful and alarmist vets we've encountered elsewhere in the city. One nice thing as well is that from my experience you rarely have to sit on hold to speak to someone.

I only have one minor suggestion for this clinic -- they pride themselves on being "stress-free", although I feel like this could be better accomplished by allowing owners to sit with their pets longer to help calm them rather than immediately taking them into the back for long periods of time. I understand this is probably down to working in a small space with a lot of clients to negotiate than as a result of a deliberate choice, but I feel like this could be scheduled or planned out a bit more carefully to help reduce stress for everyone involved.

Overall though, we've been very impressed so far -- we're pleased to call Dr. Childs our vet and we HIGHLY recommend this clinic to anyone in the area!
