The Comfort Inn Gallup NM was not up to the usual standards for this chain of hotels. The bed was OK, and the shower was adequate, but my impression was that the management doesn't care about the comfort or safety of its guests. When I arrived and brought my luggage in from the car through the outside security door next to my room, I discovered that someone had  taped  a piece of cardboard into the lock mechanism so it would stay open. I removed it. The next morning, it was back. Anyone off the street could walk right in without a key. When I reported this to two different desk clerks, they didn't seem to care. One desk clerk confirmed that it was the "maintenance staff" who wanted the door to stay open. Their convenience was more important than the security of the guests. Don't stay here. There are better hotels in Gallup.
