There are several very negative reviews for this facility, and I was a bit concerned because I was having a cardiac test done there. It was necessary for me to spend one night after the test. My impression of every step, from registration through the Cath Lab and the night on the medical floor, was that everyone was professional and friendly. There was not a time when I felt that the staff was inattentive or indifferent. During my procedure, I felt that I was in very good hands and did not have any concerns. When I was in my hospital room after the procedure, the nurses were just so nice and helpful. They were prompt in responding to the call button. There was some delay in getting started with my procedure because the Cath Lab was quite busy, so not everything was absolutely perfect. But, for me, that was something not totally within their control.

I went in to the Breast Center to have an ultrasound and biopsy with Dr Pickering. I was told by her that she would call with the results of the biopsy in 2-3 days. I never received a call. I left several messages and called multiple times and never received a phone call. I can’t believe that patients are treated this way. You have information that can determine whether or not a person has cancer and you don’t have the compassion or courtesy to place a phone call. This is not quality care!

I almost lost my life going to that hospital. I went there three days in a row with severe bleeding, they did nothing but sent me home and told me to go for a follow up. By the third day I passed out, my family told them we are taking her to another hospital, I was rushed to Memorial Hermann Memorial City, by the time I got there my blood level dropped to 5 they were stunned how was still alive, immediately they cared for me and I had emergency surgery. I ended up staying in the hospital for 4 days getting blood transfusion. Maybe it depends on who sees you first, but I will rather die at home than going to West Houston Hospital again...they have zero compassion or empathy. The worst hospital in American probably. So sad.

There was this nurse (for newborns, choose not to share her name but only the experience)who was extremely rude and made my experience there very unpleasant. Okay I believe one of the wrist bands or foot bands that was supposed to be on my baby's wrist or foot was gone. That little band contains information about the baby(so that they'll know whose baby it is), it slipped off very easily and happened with my baby twice. One time after this nurse took my baby back from cleaning/examining , first thing she told me was my baby's wrist/foot band was gone, she was not friendly at all when saying this, she was saying it as if she was holding someone for accountability. She then progressed to say ( in a very upset and impatient way and sounded like she was scolding her student ), she said "I looked for it in the baby's cart, in the boxes, in between the bottles… It wasn't here…It wasn't there…Where is it?"  I said I don't know (which I honestly didn't ) and she was staring at me and continued to stare at me for like a minute while I was looking for that little band in the bed sheet, in the trash can, everywhere I can. THE WHOLE TIME SHE WAS JUST STARING AT ME which made me feel really affensed and uncomfortable. Finally she just went ahead and get my baby another one.  I was very angry but did not break out (I don't plus I'm limited in English proficiency when expressing it orally). When she returned with another band she tried to continue to educate me(in a disrespectful way)about the importance of the band. I was feeling like hey NO ONE EVER TOLD ME how important it was to keep this little band in place at all times, if I were told, I would have paid extra attention to this little thing that slips off so easily. If it were so important why didn't anyone took the time of just a few seconds  to warn me of this in the first place? Lactation nurse, baby nurses, my husband, people came in and out and had contact with my baby, anyone, anything could make that little loose band come off , let alone I was just done giving birth to my baby, my husband was not helping and was just sleeping and snoring all night I'm the one who woke up to feed and change for baby, barely even rested, and she thinks I should be scolded by her like her student for this little loose band that I wasn't even warned of? This is ridiculous, the way she acted was very rude.  And because I responded back I said anyone could have caused this why was she aiming at me? ( In fact I was just not happy with her attitude I don't mind if she just points out what I did wrong in a polite way). She got upset and kept on saying things in a unfriendly way and even hit the curtain (making a sound)by the door when she left. Seriously? That night I was up again and was changing diapers for my baby in a dark room and I found that little band gone again! I was too sleepy (after feeding a baby every 2 hours in some consecutive days and nights) and decided to look for it the next morning. Because I was pretty sure for that period of time it must have been just in the room, not going anywhere. However, for some reason my baby was taken out again that night, and of course, the nurse found that band was again … gone. This time she went in with her chief nurse and of course, I was "educated". But not a surprised they found the band on the floor just a second later. She went near my bed and ask me with a high-pitched and feigned voice,"Ms…When was the last time you fed your baby you are supposed to write it down on this sheet but you didn't ". Hilarious I fed my baby every two hours and the each time was just specified on the white board in front of me. Plus I didn't even know such a sheet exist cause none of the nurses ever mentioned it. She just did that to make me look like a very ignorant and irresponsible mother. What an unpleasant experience with this infant nurse. But otherwise this labor and delivery department was really nice, including the food and beverage department that makes really nice calls and meals. The lady of the cleaning department was very nice and warm.

((sighs)) oh man where do I start with this hospital. #1 GET MORE PARKING SPACES!!! The parking here is HORRIBLE. The need a separate parking for staff and one for visitors. It's just horrible and they need to take money and build a bigger parking lot. #2 I had both my children at West Houston. When my son was born the staff was nice and attentive, the food is disgusting by the way. But my nurse and my baby nurse were nice. Fast forward to 2017 I had my daughter here as well. Registering is pretty easy and I had a scheduled c-section. Whoever inserted my needle had no idea what the hell they were doing, I was given medicine which I had an allergic reaction to but luckily the nurses responded quickly. The food again was disgusting, I wish I had remembered my baby nurses' name I just know it was a lady with blonde hair. I could not believe she had the nerve to come to work SICK! I mean she was coughing, sneezing and gagging and I was MORTIFIED this woman was working with newborn babies!!! I turned to my family I was so shocked this woman came to work sick knowing she works with babies. I even told my nurse about it. I did not let her take my baby anywhere I waited until night where they switched nurses and let the night nurse handle my daughter. I really would not recommend this hospital. If you can go to Memorial Hermann
