Story

As the oldest elected office in our County, The Office of the Westchester County Clerk has served the residents of Westchester for over three hundred years by maintaining and preserving the official documents and records of our rich history. The Westchester County Clerk's primary responsibilities are as the official Recorder of Deeds for the County and as the Clerk of the Supreme and County Courts of Westchester County. Additional responsibilities include serving as an official United States Passport Office, administering the Oath of Allegiance to new citizens at Naturalization Ceremonies, and maintaining the Pistol License files of the County. Once you finally get to speak to a human being they were very helpful, courteous and accomadating. Calling the listed number is VERY frustrating as you dont get to speak with a human. I had to call my local clerks office to get an alternate number

Staff at this office are helpful.  Please note that Pistol License applications are accepted by this Office, but apparently there is an entirely separate bureaucracy handling them (Dept of Public Safety).  I feel that the roughly 18 month processing delays for a Second Amendment right is beyond the pale, but apparently this is largely out of the hands of the Clerk's office.  Nonetheless, I suggest that anyone displeased with this processing time should tell the County Legislators, County Executive, heads of Public Safety and anyone else with touchpoints in this process.  It just isn't right.

I was amazed with how quickly we got through with renewing our passports...no line, no wait!!  Just have all of the paperwork needed for whatever you're doing...eg...renewing...applying 1st time...etc etc...you'll be in and out in no time!  Bye bye Manhattan...hello White Plains!  Superb service...

Hi my name is Edward David and I’m writing in regards to a visit made to your County Clerk’s office yesterday. My wife and I were there to look up some records and had the pleasure of being greeted and helped by Melissa Briggs. She’s a breath of fresh air in a government facility or any other profession that deals with the public. She couldn’t be more helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I have worked for twenty one years in a government job and I know how one can become jaded to some extent. I just wanted to take this opportunity to acknowledge her. Thru the years i have visited all NY courts, but nothing compares to the excellent service that this court provides.  Great service, very helpful, people oriented service.  Excellent staff: Mr. Pelosi, Mr. Castellanos, Brigitte, etc.  It is really a 5 star court.
