Western Colorado Botanical Gardens

Story

Western Colorado Botanical Gardens was founded in 1997. We have Butterfly Pavilion, Rain Forrest and multiple outdoor gardens. In 2012, Strive, a local non-profit organization took over management of the Gardens. Since the takeover, there has been a huge growth in its work program at the gardens, where the clients needing vocational experience train in both paid and volunteer capacities at the gardens gift shop or on the 15-acre grounds. (Strive offers numerous services for clients who have a broad range of developmental issues.)

The Botanical Gardens are a fantastic place to go kill a few hours in Grand Junction, especially if you have children. There are a number of attractions, including a koi pond, butterfly garden, greenhouse, and exhibits of early pioneer equipment and living. The greenhouse and outdoor area showcase native and non-native plant life, many of which have informational plaques. Check out Watson Island, in the same park, for a really great disc-golf course.

Worth the price, very cool and informative. There's also a gift shop. Not too busy, lots of cool plants and a cool cat finishes the tour for you

I have visited this place many times. I have yet to see the butterflies, cause every time I go, they are waiting for a shipment. The gardens are so clean, and I love the lambs ear plant. I would love to have that plant in my yard, but our house is set where we get burning sun.
