Hands down my favorite bar in DC. Dogs allowed to roam as long as leashed. Taco truck there. Superrrrr chill. Whats not to loveFood: 5/5
I passed Wet Dog Tavern on the way to dinner the other night and told my husband we should stop by after for a drink and see what the vibe was like. It is a small tavern, but definitely has a cool converted industrial building atmosphere. The outdoor patio provides for additional space to hang out and play corn hole or watch sports on there large wall projection. It was chilly that night and they did have several gas heat lamps going, which you could see groups of folks huddled around. I like the wrap around bar setup, as it allows the bartenders to serve both inside and outside guests simultaneously. The beer selection was pretty good. If you like IPAs, then you will like their beer selection more than I did, but I did try a cider and my husband ordered a stout...both were in cans. We generally prefer darker beer, such as ambers, porters and stouts; though I do also dabble in ciders and sours. The large canvas outside was the highlight for me. I loved the ode to Michelangelo's "The Creation of Adam," from a canine perspective. Just awesome. All in all, we had fun; so if you are looking for a nice little meet up spot for friends with or without dogs, this is a great option. Thanks for a good experience!
Rude customer service especially towards Asians. They would be friendly to other guests then suddenly rude and bossy for no reasons to us. It was the weirdest interaction I’ve ever had. First of all they don’t pick up phone. Also, I left a bag and tried to speak to the bartender by saying “HI” but he was busy so I waited. When I finally got his attention I said “Sorry sir, I left my bag..” Before I finish he demanded “first you have to say hi and how are you, then you ask me a question” which I thought was so bossy but I proceeded to say “sorry”. He repeated that I had to say “hi how are you” while staring at me while I felt very confused and uncomfortable. I told him I did say hi and he said he didn’t hear it. I said “that’s all I have to say” because I believe I was not the one being rude plus I am a middle age woman, not a child. He continued to *stare* at me in a very rude way and finally gave me my bag back. I said thank you and he never responded. It is normal having a bad day at work but please be professional and dont *the only Asian customer in the room*. Respect is earned and it goes both ways.
I can’t say enough good things about this place. 1. Awesome beer selection 2. Board games and corn hole to keep you entertained 3. DOGS! As the name suggests minus being wet dogs are welcome here on the front patio. You can come to drink, socialize and meet new neighborhood dogs. 4. Chill Vibe - it’s so relaxing and comfortable here - not stuffy at all 5. Winter friendly. If you do come in the fall/winter months, they’ll still have the back patio open - it’ll be tented with heated lamps 6. THE BURGERS. Oh my goodness Mélange Burgers. This would be number one on my list, but I wanted to save the best for last. Sometimes, I just come here to eat a burger because it’s so good - I crave it. My mouth is watering as I write this just thinking about it. I rave about this burger to everyone I meet, and when I finally bring them to try it, they’re speechless with how good it is - they end up ordering a second one because it’s so good. The menu is limited three selections and sometimes a he has a special but that’s all you need. The burger just melts in your mouth with every bite. I had to google the chef to learn more about this burger after my first experience, and I learned that he studied culinary arts in France and formerly worked at Michelin-starred Caviar Russe in New York. This guy brings those rich flavors from his French culinary background and incorporates them into his burgers. I don’t know how he does it, but the way he combines flavors is incredible. You will not be disappointed by this burger. And if you’re a slightly picky eater like me, they’ll take off the tomato and onion for you.
I visited five bars in U St on Saturday night and Wet Dog was by far my favorite. I loved the quick outdoor bar service, ample seating options and bar games Connect Four and Cornhole. Everyone seemed to be having a good time and the music wasn't too loud. The drink selection and prices were reasonable. I would definitely consider going back to Wet Dog the next time I go out in the U St area.
Not a bad spot as off-of-U-st younger, bro-y crowd hotspots go. Acoustics aren't terrible and the back patio has corn hole and a burger grill that wafts nice smells over the crowd, but too many broken heat lamps, likely sacrifice to overly enthusiastic bros of evenings past and a straight down the middle drink selection and relatively high prices keeps this one squarely in the basic category.
Cool open spaced bar with a great food truck on site. It is called el diablito.Food: 5/5
I want to like it.. I’m new to the area and have been looking for dog friendly restaurants, breweries, and bars. From the ads of this place, it seems so dog friendly! Turns out there are two patios but dogs are only allowed on the smaller front patio… and tied up. so what exactly is the difference between this place and all other bars/restaurants with a patio?! The door person is very nice, so are bar staff. But if the place is not exactly as advertised, may need to modify the ads to be less misleading. The previous breweries/bars that I’ve visited where ‘dog friendly’ is a selling point, dogs can actually be anywhere on the premise, and some of them have leash free areas.
Good spot for drinks outside. Lots of outdoor seating
Nice outdoor area, dog friendly, and helpful staff. If you just want a beer its a good place to go!
