JOHN JARRETT KENNEDY WHALEN was born and raised in Sharon, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Sharon High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force full-time and attended college part-time. Attorney Whalen has undergraduate degrees in Nuclear Technology from the United States Air Force Community College in Montgomery, Alabama, and in Legal Studies from Point Park College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he graduated with high honors.
Attorney Whalen obtained his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law while serving in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. After graduation from law school, he returned to the Air Force, accepting a commission as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate (JAG) and serving as a Special Assistant United States Attorney (SAUSA) with the Department of Justice.
He returned to Pennsylvania to practice in 2000. He retired from the Air Force in 2007, and is currently admitted to practice before the Pennsylvania, Florida, Federal and Military Courts. Attorney Whalen is a former Assistant District Attorney and currently an adjunct professor on the faculties of several local colleges.
MELISSA MERCHANT-CALVERT was born and raised in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Sharpsville High School, she attended Edinboro University, where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Pre-Law.
Attorney Calvert obtained her law degree from Barry University in Orlando, Florida, and joined our firm in May, 2012.
Our firm holds strong ties to the Mercer County area. We believe in giving back to the community, and are dedicated to providing the residents of Mercer County and surrounding areas with the highest quality of legal services at affordable rates.
We belong to the American, Pennsylvania, and Mercer County Bar Associations, where Attorney Whalen serves as Chairman of the Community Outreach and Military Affairs Committees and is a member of the Family Law and Law Day Committees.
