Story

Wheeler Historic Farm is a free public park and farm operated by Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation. The park and farm are available to visit 7 days/week.

Purchase wagon rides, cow milking and tour passes at the Activity Barn.
Office hours are Monday - Saturday 9AM - 5PM.

Following the death of Henry Wheeler Sr., the farm was sold to Sterling Furniture Co. and its president Richard Madsen.

With the help of Beverly Wheeler Mastrim, The Jr. League of Salt Lake, and private donors, the farm was sold to the County in 1969.

In May of 1976 Dr. A. Glen Humphreys, curator, farmer and director, moved on to Wheeler Farm and lived in a trailer. Dr. Humphreys contribution as Director and Curator for over 25 years are still a part of what you find at the farm today.

With the help of Beverly Wheeler Mastrim and the State Historic Preservation Office the farm was placed on the National Historic registry in that same year.

Today the farm is operated by Salt Lake County as an agricultural living history museum and outdoor recreation site.

Popular place during spring through Halloween. Pumpkin maze is going on now. Neat place, especially for kids. Has lots of animals, activities, summer camp. Playground is spacious, in the middle of the lawn. Plenty of space to get rid of extra energy.

Had a blast at the farm. Be sure to grab a wheel barrel and be respectful and return it all the way inside as is posted. Don't forget to stop inside the grocery store. There are plenty of different options to choose from and they are all great . Have fun.

My family loves this place! Lots of open space. Nice mix of historic buildings and modern conveniences. Lots of farm animals, and Springtime is especially nice with baby animals. No admission fee, but there are a few rides that there's a cost for. Lovely demo gardens.

We love coming here with our toddler to check out all the animals. I especially appreciate that it's free! it's a great resource to parents who want to do affordable activities with their kids. There is supposedly a cool playground there too but we've always been to preoccupied with the animals to find it.

Grandma's house is 3 minutes away, so it's easy and fun to drop in every other week so my toddler can see the horses, cows, chickens, turkeys, donkeys, bunnies, pigs, and feed the ducks oats. Great playgrounds, trails, tractors for pictures, the old barns, the house. Good for picnics. We regularly visit.
