Not being very familiar with Korean food and having heard great things from several people we stopped for a meal here. We ordered an appetizer with some stuff like pickled garlic and onions and bibimbap for our meals. The stone bowls stayed hot the entire meal, a little too hot to eat for a while. The meal was complex, it was tasty but I think ordering it again would do better. The space was small and quite busy. The staff was nice and very busy. Being more familiar with the food would help, but we would go back. The metal chopsticks were a nice touch.
I have passed by this place for years and, finally decided to step in & give it a whirl. I’ve eaten a lot of Korean food in my time and, I simply found this place to be too limited in options for my taste. This place is also LOUD. One thing I have enjoyed about Korean restaurants no matter where I am, in Sol, Korea or Oahu or Las Vegas in the past is tranquil, quiet conversation. That’s not a thing here. I will say this - one thing I truly appreciate about this place is they do their best to locally source EVERYTHING. Even down to the glassware. But that’s about it. However, their menu, to me, was limited in options AND, unless I paid $6 dollars extra - the side dishes I am used to receiving with my main dish that are formulated to help digestion & taste that are traditional with Korean food did not come with my main course unless I paid extra. When I came here this place was LOUD. My server did not seem to be attentive to me at all and, it was frustrating at times. In fact, one table next to me even yelled for our server for me multiple times as I was ignored repeatedly and the table next to me saw it going on no matter how hard I tried to grab their attention without yelling. After I left I looked up the pricing on the menu and, I was overcharged for a tea and, main course by $4 even tho I left a decent tip as I was never shown my bill. I wanted to get dessert but I was honestly so fed up with being ignored I didn’t want to wait forever to get my food so, I just asked for my check when another table finally yelled at the server to come over to me as he was trying to walk away from me again without checking on me. Will I come back here ? Eh. Doubtful. If I came back here’s what I would do : - Bring a friend. Obviously eating here alone means you get ignored by your server. - Bring ear plugs I use at concerts. It is WAY loud in here. - Check my bill before paying without assuming my server is doing their job. - Be prepared for spend $40+ on a tea & main dish plus the side dishes I’m used to getting because, that’s about how much it will cost which to me, seems a little expensive for a rice & vegetable dish plus tea. - Order the Blissful Pig tea, it’s good & actually has enough tea in the pot to last you without having to order multiple teas. *This is the one thing that actually bumped this place from 2 stars to 3 stars in my rating plus the local sourcing.* Worth the wait of all the years this place has been established in Bozeman ? Sadly, no. I hope if I ever go back my experience will be so much different as this just left a bad taste in my mouth. :
I’ll be honest. When I saw a Korean restaurant in Bozeman, Montana, I said to myself “no way this is going to be good Korean food.” Upon entering and not seeing any Asian people at all, kind of a red flag. But hey, I’m here. I found it odd they charged extra for banchan side dishes which are typically included at nearly every Korean restaurant. Also noting people using chopsticks to eat bibimbap was a bit odd. But hey! It’s Bozeman. Everything is weird. I ordered the stone pot bibimbap, added spicy pork. When the dish came out I was surprised at how massive the portion is. I was also surprised to see they use Korean black rice which turns the rice purple. All I’m going to say is every assumption I had flew out the window. This bowl rocked. I was blown away. The vegetables in the dish tastes so fresh and the spicy pork was grilled to perfection. The sizzling stone bowl dolsot perfectly crisps up the rice. It was the best bibimbap I’ve had in the country.
Banchan and bibimbop were delicious. Good portion too, took some home for a second meal. The Korean street donut was a unique item and definitely worth a try.
An absolute must if you are in Bozeman and love Korean food! I had the spicy pork bibimbap and it was absolutely delicious. The service was a little slow, but it was clear we came at a busy time. All of the staff we talked to there were very friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very welcoming. The prices are very fair as well. A great place to eat for so many reasons.
Got bibimbap with spicy pork in a ceramic bowl. It is worth the extra dollar. Makes things nice and crispy. I also got the pork mandu. The dumplings are very crispy, but not like a wonton dumpling. Very interesting. Food tasted great and will be coming back for more. Great Korean food.
Fantastic Korean food! Having lived in Asian for 2 years we came to love good Korean cuisine and this place delivered in a most unexpected city. Scallion pancakes had an amazing sauce. And, the Japchae Bap’s sauce was even better! Service was also fantastic. Very attentive and happy to provide extra sauces to feed my new addiction.
Our first visit to Bozeman and we had a fantastic meal here! We had a short 10 min wait and then we’re seated at a nice table by the window. We ordered our wine and some dumplings that were delish! Then dinner - the Bibimbap with beef and the short ribs!! Truly fantastic!!! They came out sizzling hot and the food was fresh and the sauces so tasty!!! The service was spot on and we noticed the couple that owns it working really hard along with their waitstaff! Highly recommend!!!
Delicious food!! Loved that there are several vegan options. And many different delicious drink options, like fresh loose leaf tea. Cute place and good service. Also loved adding the gourmet mushrooms on our dinner, yum!
Excellent food, great value and quick service. Classic bibimbap in a stone bowl was delicious as was the spicy pork. Scallion mushroom pancakes are a must order - so tasty! Highly recommend
