TrailSide Lodging On The Whitefish Trail - SLEEP - WAKE - RIDE

Story

The Whitefish Bike Retreat offers the only trailside lodging and camping located in Northwestern Montana just 8 miles west of the town of Whitefish. We encompass 19 acres of wilderness adjacent to the Whitefish Trail network nestled in the Beaver Lake Area and offer unique and affordable lodging options for cyclists and adventurers. The owner is experienced with all aspects of endurance cycling, long distance hiking and paddling, mountaineering and knows how to cater to the needs of people who venture into the wild to play. The Whitefish Bike Retreat is not just a place to stay, it is a place to experience!

Our facility offers different forms of lodging to suit the needs of all of our guests, immediate access to the Whitefish Trail and is located near local cross-country and downhill biking trails that are minutes away and offer a variety of riding adventures. Additionally, The Great Divide Route, The Northern Tier Route, and The Great Parks Route and countless more riding trails are located throughout Northwestern Montana and provide miles of open gravel and paved roads to tour at your leisure. You can begin or end your journey here or stop by for a nights rest along your way.

Even though we are a dedicated cycling facility, we welcome any and all adventurers summer and winter. Our vision is to build a place where cyclists or adventurers can come together – enjoy one another, learn from one another, and help one another. No worries if you do not ride – come and enjoy the area, the activities and trails that northwestern Montana has to offer as a hiker, skier or runner or just paddle the many pristine lakes close by. Glacier National Park and Whitefish Mountain Resort are close and offer a range of outdoor activities both in the summer and winter.

First visited there in 2012 while the retreat was under construction. Lodge was fantastic and campground was being developed. Trails were great but not that many. Was pleasantly surprised in my last visit in October 2017 to see the addition of miles of great trails that have been developed. Amazing riding! The retreat has developed a skills course to teach beginners and kids, very family friendly area and an addition of a wood fired sauna make this a great destination for cyclists or rent the whole place for a family reunion. Just found out that they are the only regularly groomed snow trails for winter fat biking in the Northwest so you don't have to worry about a snowmobile hitting you head on. Awesome.

The perfect place in Montana for mountain biking and for visiting Glacier National park. In the lodge common living area, you will meet other outdoor oriented people and get to share your adventures. The office can also provide tons of resources on things to do there, maps, etc. I liked it so much that I am planning to go back during ski season in March 2018, and will rent one of the FAT bikes there, also there is a new wood burning sauna to enjoy!!

Having been to 20-30 hostels around the world I can say this is the nicest one I've ever been to by far. Super friendly owner. Very nice facilitys. Free laundry. Very nice well stocked kitchen. Nice private wooded location. While I didn't bike this trip the bike facility was top notch

Super rad place. love the environment, vibe and trail access. However, the camping sites need some serious work and were expensive - $40/night. Our site could only hold one tent, max. it was also sloped and rocky. Really cool new place, but still working out the kinks. Stay in the lodge. OR, you can find National Forest lands (call the Tally Lake Ranger District of the Flathead National Forest for access near trail system) and you can camp in most places for free and still be very close to trail system.

Such a cool place!!! The owner is awesome. The staff is awesome. The trails kicked my butt and they were awesome. Are you getting the point yet? The lodge is ... you guessed it. There aren't a lot of camp sites so call ahead if you can.
