I was lucky enough to have gone to the original pottery where homemade pots sat outside, where unique finds were always available and where they would have mass sales like skid row. It was fun, people took buses to visit it and grab a $5.00 hotdog lunch. And who could forget pushing your cart over concrete and rocks. The new pottery just simply feels like a shopping center and it's missing the ambiance the Pottery had. Sad that the old pottery is no more.

The pottery used to be a fun, interesting place to pick up reasonably priced items. Now they seem to be trying to be an upscale shopping experience. Their selection is still large, but prices are higher, it's just not "the pottery" anymore. There were 5 or 6 cars in the parking lot, shops were empty.

I've been here several times since the new buildings went up, but it is still just not the same. Prices on many things do seem high, but not worse than other stores. It feels like it's become just another "mall" rather than an experience. It really does look much better and seems to be much better organized than the previous incarnation, but overall, the experience is just bland. They do usually have something new to find, but I have yet to find anything worth purchasing at this new version.

Only went to Au Bon Pan today. Great place great people! Very comfortable and relaxing. Good food and good coffee - reasonably priced.

I am apparently a few decades too late for Williamsburg Pottery's heyday. My husband is a retired submariner formerly stationed in VA and insisted we check this place out because years ago it was the place for artisanal crafts and unique pottery. I had read several reviews claiming Williamsburg Pottery was a waste of time, but we went on a whim. The empty parking lot upon arrival should've been a warning sign. Inside was a ghost town. I consider this like a giant Christmas Tree Shop with some "local" pottery (that looks made in China) thrown in. The prices aren't good for the low quality items and there's nothing artistic about the place. Great for walking, but many of the brands carried are sold at Wal-Mart far cheaper. Not recommended. Inauthentic.
