Willie's Chicke Shack was next door to the hotel said I was gone check it out. The atmosphere is on point. Good music, open concept, and chicken was . Probably best seasoned chicken I've tasted on my trip. Wings/chicken are around/under $15, fries went for about $6, and they have daiquiri type drinks with souvenir about $15. All meals are made to order so you will have to wait. Even thought it's an open concept they did mandate mask upon entering and ordering. Staff were great and dancing. As if they just liked working there.
My friends and I were taking a walk down Canal street and Daiquiri and this place did not disappoint. We were able to get both and the chicken was excellent with the right amount of spice like the chicken fingers and wings. The Daiquiris were more than expected. The cashier and the person that brought us our food were both nice and made it an experience that will be well with us coming back.
We went twice to this place during our stay. Best fried chicken in town! Crispy, light and spicy batter. The girl that works there was so nice too. Really recommend that place!
I went to one of the 5000 Willy‘s in the French quarter. It seems like a tourist trap staple so of course I had to give it a try at least once. The chicken was good. Good flavor. I am not sure I agree with their sign that said so good makes you wanna smack your mama. It was not that good. Not smack your mama good, but still good. For a quick meal it is not bad. If you are new to the area and you are looking for authentic Cajun, I would certainly go to a dining restaurant for more authentic experience. Now for the drinks. The machines, as you see in the photo, clearly state Bacardi 151. I asked the cashier about it. The cashier said all of the drinks are made with Bacardi 151, premixed. Unfortunately that cannot be true as Bacardi 151 has been discontinued since 2016. The product is simply not made anymore. He offered an extra shot to go into the drink, but it’s funny how the extra shot was not 151. If you’re going to add an extra shot, would it make sense to add an extra shot of the same alcohol? Again, they can’t because it is discontinued. Alcohol aside, the drink was flavorful.
One of many chicken/ alcohol fast food place to eat on Canal St. Very busy during Mardi Gras so it seems food not normal and rushing to serve faster because of crowds. The cashier was in another world and seemed like I was bothering her to take my order. The cashier had to finish something on her phone first so she can take my order. Chicken wings wasn't bad but the pizza is a different story. They also served big souvenirs cup filled with multiple frozen alcohol slushy which is very good.
I was really hoping this was going to be good but the service was atrocious. Chicken was alright, biscuit was dry, fries were very old, no dipping sauces available except warm ranch and honey mustard that should’ve been refrigerated, and burned jambalaya. While I love to logo, Willie’s wasn’t for me this time.
I was so looking forward to eating here on my recent trip to New Orleans. The food was good but not as amazing as I remember it being. Service was fast and the employees were friendly. I was a little intrigued that they advertise daiquiris made with Bacardi 151, especially since Bacardi 151 was discontinued 6 years ago. So I’m not sure how accurate these statements are, but the Hurricane slushy was good.
I ordered the Cajun catfish and it was fantastic. My wife and daughter ordered fried chicken and chicken strips. After trying the chicken, I wished I had ordered chicken. Nothing wrong with the catfish but damn that chicken was good.
Had a taste test of three chicken spots Popeyes, Voodo, and Willies our absolute favorite was Willie’s!! Almost tasted like they pickle brined the chicken before frying it was delicious! Crispy outside, moist and tender inside with pockets of flavor and perfectly seasoned! 5 stars!! Biscuits came with our order and they were perfectly cooked! Thanks Willies for the best fried chicken I’ve had!!
I've always enjoyed some good chicken. The last time I was here I went to brother's Chicken and I figured this time I will try Willie's chicken which was actually good. The staff was good except one young lady who I asked to wipe the table off because they were so busy and haven't had time to wipe the table off. She replied to me that she did not speak English. Little did she know I speak Spanish so I asked her again politely in Spanish and she had a small attitude aside for that. Everyone else were great. The food was nice hot. The chicken was juicy. I do recommend, although I did not get a daiquiri from here the next time I visit because I do frequent at least once a year. I'm definitely going to try one and do recommend you come through for the chicken. There's nothing like hot chicken out the grease. Ready to eat.
