My wife and I visited this church on 18 March 2012 (Sunday) and attended the 10:45 AM service. The people there were friendly and pleasant toward us. The atmosphere was that of a contemporary worship service, with projections on the wall of the music we were singing, most of which were contemporary worship songs with a few traditional pieces as well. The congregation seemed to be primarily composed of elderly people, but I did notice a small crowd of youth near the center pews. About 150 people were in attendance, all of whom were white except a single black family I saw, which I thought interesting since the surrounding neighborhood is predominantly hispanic. Go figure. A few people raised their hands during worship and some more walked down to the front of the sanctuary to pray at the steps of the stage during several moments of prayer. The pastor, Danny Frazee, was a passionate speaker and his style was similar to other pastors I've seen in contemporary churches, emphasizing emotional language to stir the congregation. Personally, however, I did not find much intellectual stimulation from the message and I was surprised to find that at one point, he seemed to contradict what Jesus said on the cross, suggesting those who crucified Christ knew what they were doing while Jesus claimed otherwise (Luke 23:34). Perhaps the pastor merely got caught up in the emotional atmosphere of it all, unintentionally going off on a tangent and suggesting something clearly contrary to what Jesus was saying? I can't say. I feel bad being critical of someone who was clearly passionate and friendly, but it was something that certainly caught my attention. Of note, the service started at 10:45 AM and lasted until 12:19 PM. Most services I've been to last only an hour, so that was a small surprise. Plan accordingly.

Pastor Frazee is one of a kind and demonstrates his love for everyone who attends Wilmont Place. I like calling him Crazy Frazee because how he ran through the sanctuary to the music of Rocky. It was great!!
