My family and I had a great time. The tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly. It had beautifully kept grounds. The rooms that were finished before Sarah's death are maintained and staged with furniture appropriate to the time. The unfinished areas of the house were incredible to walk through (with the provided hard hat). The new extended tour gave you a glimpse at the servants living quarters and the beautiful views from the roof, and nearly everything in between. If you're wanting a glimpse at a local historically unique place I'd highly recommend it. If you're going to be disappointed by "nothing but empty rooms" I don't think this is the tour for you.

We visited Winchester Mystery House as a group of 4 people over Memorial Day weekend. The place was very busy, but the staff was on top of it. Place is extremely well organized, and the little time we had to wait was done in a pleasant covered courtyard with access to the gift shop, bathrooms, food and drink. Our first guide Gene was fabulous. He paid close attention to our group, courteously helped a lady that needed to leave the group and answered all our questions gracefully. Our second tour was the new additional tour that includes the basement and rooms that had been closed off for over a hundred years, including the cupola. He was wonderful too. All in all it was writhing I expected it to be. If your in San Jose, I highly recommend it.

The people are awesome. We got there an hour early for our tour, the lady just moved it up for us. The tour guides are really friendly and informative. Always smiles even though there were some rude people. The bathrooms are clean. We weren't allow to take pictures since the movie bought the rights. The gift shop have some cute not related to the house. We took the extended tour, we loved it. Keep in mind there is a lot of walking and stairs.

Absolutely beautiful, well laid out, and very friendly staff. I am definitely glad I went. However, no photography is allowed inside which is very disappointing. Thought it was a little pricey for what you got to see and the gifts in the gift shop were mediocre. If you bring your children, please make sure they are respectful so others can hear the tour guide.

Good place to explore, go on a date, or get inspired by the crazy architecture and creepy history. I've been here three times, and I still find it fun. Each trip has been different for me, even though I went on the same tour each time. The first two were different because the path we took varied slightly, also the different tour guide made a very big difference. The third time I went was on Halloween, and would definitely recommend purchasing a ticket ahead of time because they sell fast. Fortunately you can go online to do that. The gun museum is pretty neat, as you can see how the guns changed over time. And the garden is beautiful and is a nice way to wait for your tour or to unwind after staying indoors for the entire tour. You can also play a shooting game while waiting for your tour too.
