Story

Wings n Weenies is a Sarasota classic. It’s hard to believe that they have been serving fantastic comfort food for over 26 years. The first restaurant opened in downtown Sarasota in 1985 in the old food court. In 1987 they opened their second location in the “Gulf Gate Mall.” Both locations moved on to bigger & better facilities. They opened the location at 5495 Fruitville Road in 1991 . Open 7 days a week from 6 am to 9 pm.

The food is always delicious here. Usually I get the hot wings but opted for a burger with mushroom and sauteed onions. It did not disappoint.  Great place to grab a quick bite and the 21 shrimp in a bucket is almost better than bang bang shrimp.

I have eaten at Wings And Weenies,many,many times.the place is very casual,booths,family place to eat,the wait staff is friendly.I love. Their boneless wings.they are awesome! You can have the bot or mild sauce on the side,or c.f. covering the strips of wings.I prefer it on side.the wings are great!!

Don't know where to begin but hope someone takes the time to read this so they never go into this restaurant to eat. This review is based on food quality and restaurant cleanliness. Took me three different booths to finally locate one that was clean. When I opened up the menu there was snot on it. Ok, so it's not the establishments fault for someone wiping their booger on the menu, but it does indicate how often the menus are cleaned or wiped down. Based on the booths and the menu I should have just cut my losses and moved on to a different spot to eat. But I stayed, and that was my own fault. 

I ordered a hot dog and 10 wings. The hot dog itself was average but the bun that it came on pretty much disintegrated upon first bite. The onions were chewy as if they were cooked (which you really would think is impossible when coming to raw onions) and the  sauerkraut just tasted old. 

The wings were by far the worst wings I've ever had. Burnt, deformed, just tough to eat and tasteless. A few of them didn't even resemble chicken wings.  I wasn't planning on eating the celery or carrots but they looked so bad I had to at least try them to confirm my suspecsion. Both were soggy, Not crisp at all. Considering they were raw and not cooked, you would think that's just not right.  I wondering how old they really were.  

The order did come out quick and my waitress was attentive and quite nice so I tipped 50 percent. The food was not her fault and she should not be penalized. But when the restaurant cleanliness and food are in question, the service really doesn't matter as much. I would highly recommend avoiding this place at all costs. If I caught the cook on a bad night, and the staff being too tired to clean adequately, I really shouldn't be penalized for that. I would not go here for wings, that's for sure. I'd pass on the dog as well. No idea about the other items and no chance I'll take the risk and find out!

Always great food and great service. I come in on Saturdays sometimes to just relax has that small town cafe feel. Love it here.
