The Winnetka Historical Society educates people on the stories of our past, in an effort to enrich our present and inspire our future. We promote awareness of Winnetka’s heritage through artifact collection and preservation, public access to our research center, and enlightening programs, exhibits, and publications.

WHS owns and operates two historic properties in the Village, our Museum & Headquarters at 411 Linden St, on the corner of Ash & Linden, and also the Schmidt-Burnham Log House on Willow Rd in the Crow Island Woods.

This is a great little museum with lots of interesting photos and information about the history of Winnetka. They also have files on a lot of the residences in Winnetka so I got to learn a little bit about the history of my family's house, and even add some photos of my own to the file. And it's free! (But a donation is highly recommended!)
