The Winston-Salem Transit Authority is the transportation provider for the city of Winston-Salem, North Carolina

Story

Serving the residents of Winston-Salem since 1972 as the sole public tranit system, WSTA's goal then and now is to offer safe, reliable and economical transportation services to our passengers. We also have a paratransit service, Trans-AID, which fills the need for public transit services for individuals who have disabilities, and/or who are elderly and unable to use our fixed-route bus system.

Mission

Our mission is to offer our passengers a safe and comfortable ride, without creating a strain on their budgets. We strive to be a great community partner; working along with the local school system, the medical community, and nonprofit agencies who are interested in enhancing the lives of the population they serve.

As with all bus depots in big cities, this one does have some safety concerns which they actively combat with security officers. Officers are kind, polite and quick to assist in any situation. Restrooms are unfortunately not always clean or in good working order, however, there are on site janitorial staff.

Need to work out some kinks. Decent way to travel in the city. Nothing in place for routes that are constantly late, which causes patrons to miss connector buses.

I know longer ride the bus but trans Aide. When I was I was glad that if I got off work I had a way home. Just like everything else things happen but just have patience as things are not perfect but God and they do their best in staying on schedule.

Not to much has changed since I was last there a couple of months ago. The same regular flow of riders going to school, work, appointments, or other. Since I've moved to Winston 5 1/2 years ago I think I visited the bathroom maybe twice so can't give you an insight on that, no more than to say they do have a new cleaning crew, but the waiting area is pretty much clean. Haven't been had any issues with Customer service they were always friendly and willing to answer any questions and help out when I needed it.

Drivers will tell you about routes. The station is clean. The ladies in the window will give info. Just don't break in line. They will get to you in turn.
