I stopped by here one day randomly and decided to walk around and check things out. I was very happy I stopped in and walked around for awhile excited by all the history this place has. Lots of old tombstones and so many interesting ones too. Definitely worth a stop to even stop and relax for a few. I didn't get a chance to talk to any of the dead and ask them how they liked it here, sorry.

My favorite cemetery in Dayton by far ! The Wright Brothers, and their family are buried here. They are the most famous of the 50 famous people buried here. The name Woodland comes from the fact that virtually every tree native to the state of Ohio is represented here. They use it for teaching grade school children their tree, and leaf identification. I went here on a field trip when I was in first grade. The duck and turtle pond is one of my favorite places to sit and meditate. If you are a visitor to Dayton for the first time you must stop by. The front office has self guided tours for the famous people, and monuments. The Mausoleum has beautiful stained glass windows, and pieces of art. If you are from here, or have lived here for any amount of time, and have not been here, shame on you ! 😀

Most things beyond the main gate seem to be in disrepair. The hours posted are ignored and are at the discretion of the ground crew. The fence lines are unkempt and overgrown. Particularly on Wyoming and Stewart street. Constant debris on Stewart street and the sidewalk on Wyoming is always a mess.
