Great campground with access to many lakes and beautiful hikes, but very popular. Sites are first come first serve, no reservations, if the campground is full there are some free primitive (no fires/camp-stove only) campsites nearby. We arrived at Woods Lake campground early Friday to a full campground, set up camp at one of the primitive sites, and waited for a site to open up the next day. The host & hostess were nice enough to let us fill our water at the campground while we stayed at the primitive site. The primitive site was quieter but as soon as the weekend campers cleared out, our stay was more enjoyable. Gorgeous area, clean campground, highly recommend even for a day-hike trip.

This is for the picnic grounds and lake. The campground is in a gorgeous site but we didn't stay there. It certainly gets busy on summer weekends during midday. The picnic grounds are simple Sierra perfection, right next to the lake, which is swimmable (if cold), with great views, and a sweet little hike around the lake possible too, passing cabins, meadows, a waterfall and some granite slabs to scamper over. Family bliss.

Great hiking available.  Lake access.  A bit expensive for us as only a double unit was available.
