Taking our commitment to make the world a little greener to the center of our school -- The Courtyard Garden Renovation!

Story

This group of students, now known as C.R.E.W. (Campus Renovation for an Eco-Friendly Wyoming) has made a serious commitment to a full-scale Courtyard Renovation. Their plan involves collaboration with other student groups: Wyoming Future Business Leaders of America Club (developing and implementing a fundraising / marketing plan), the AP Art Classes (collaborating with a guest artist to create permanent sculpture and a water feature ), SSFE (partnering as a campus site for service learning), Victoria Haygood’s mulit-handicap classroom (weekly watering, weeding and bulb planting), engineering classes (designing and completing the renovation of existing benches and new raised flower beds with recycled composite lumbar) and student council (solicitation of honor / memorial donations for furniture).

Additionally, the C.R.E.W. students have approached the Cincinnati State Landscaping Program, who has offered to send advanced students to help with installation of permeable pavers, a water reclamation system and solar lighting.

We hope to establish future partnerships with the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens as we work to create not only a usable, but also a sustainable and beautiful learning environment.Our plan includes rain barrels, solar energy, organic weed prevention, native plants, recycled building materials for our hardscape and a plan for long-term care. Eventually we want to share our knowledge with other Cincinnati schools and to organize a school garden tour.

Mission

Our mission is to create a sustainable, universally accessible and eco-friendly courtyard garden which will extend our learning space for all students.
