Vermont's oldest independent bookshop.
Vermont’s oldest continuously operated independent bookshop first opened in November 1935 and has been serving Woodstock and the surrounding towns for 82 years. Kari Meutsch + Kristian Preylowski officially became this historic shop's eighth owners in February of 2017, making the shop + community of Woodstock their new home.
They have pledged to continue Yankee's tradition of serving the literary needs of the surrounding community, while bringing their own love of all things book-related, to the shop. The shelves are stocked with current best sellers, international authors, literary newcomers and perennial favorites, as well as a hand-selected lineup of cards and stationary and quirky gifts for the book lovers in your life. New this fall: we now carry vinyl records & turntables - just like we used to in the 1960s! The Yankee Bookshop has become a destination for many, and we hope it will remain so for years to come.
