this place has always been a favorite growing up however as of late im not sure whats going on but the food taste very different and not in a good way. i dont know whos doing the cooking now all i know is they need to go find the old cook. each dish i had as of late has been fried to crispy and the sauce too salty to the point i cant taste the flavor like i used to and as far as the atmosphere i think they need to get rid of the televisions and go back to playing the soft oriental peaceful music they used to play other then that there service is still great i just cant get with the food anymore too crispy too salty
Called in the order. Spent about $100. Duck was dried out and hard. I couldn't even eat the legs they were so hard and dried out. The cabbage and pork had very little cabbage, and everything in the soup was bland except the broth. The fantail shrimp was overcooked and dried out. The vegetables had no flavor. The egg rolls were the only thing good. I don't recommend going there. I will never visit again!
I read the comment someone wrote about tipping. You are so right about them when it comes to tipping. I was at the counter paying for my food and the young guy who is very rude at times, had the nerve to ask me did I leave a tip for my waitress. Very unprofessional. On another note, they are extremely prejudice, but trey to keep it on the down low. I have noticed, on several occasions , how they jiump to serve the white clientele, even if you arrived before they did. The on another occasion, which made me not ever want to return, they served bad leftover food. I advised the waitress of this and she told me that maybe I take home and eat it later. The food even smelled bad. I had ordered a triple delight. I was the first black client during lunch until several other black customers began to come in. I was sitting at the first set of booths as you walk in and the other tow2 black females were sitting in the set across from me. One of the ladies purposely got my attention and asked me how my food was. I told her horrible and that I couldn’t eat it. They both said the same. I advised them that we should complain corporately and maybe they would refund our money. There were 3 other black customers in the restaurant who had not yet gotten their orders. While we were complying the young guy, who normally works the register was standing at the dining room door where the ladies whom I was talking to could not see him but I could. So I made sure that he could hear us complain. I could see him telling the waitress what he had heard. When the ladies went to pay, the waitress told her that she was complaining about her shrimp and made, apparently some other rude remark. The black female told her that she was lucky that she paid her at all. My son had advised me to stop going there because he never felt comfortable there. I will be taking his advise and stimming from my past experiences, this is not the place for me.
Easily the best Chinese food I've had in over a year. Got some orange chicken and wonton soup. Divine. Edit: got it again and the food was equally amazing which doesn't happen often imo. Edit 2 re: COVID: THANK YOU for not having Dine-in and taking excellent measures for safety. It doesn't feel risky picking up food, especially compared to so many other places. Edit 3 5/31/21: THEY DON'T MISS. Also again thank you for maintaining distancing, takeout, and actually appropriate safety measures. Edit 4 5/2/2022: I swear they didn't used to have orange beef on the menu before. I remember I asked for it once a while ago in the comments when ordering through the site and they called me to make sure they understood what I said lol. To whoever added it to the menu: I Love You. That's why you go to the local spot!!!!!
Food was good but the egg roll has shrimp in it....i just wanted pork ...its both...hot and sour soup is ok....had hunan chickenFood: 5/5
The food is always delicious, but this was the first time I actually ate inside the restaurant for lunch on a weekend. I ordered a coke with little ice and received this half-filled glass with flat coke about 20 minutes after ordering and after being reminded about your forgotten drinks. We received our appetizer and food before out drinks, including water. When the coke arrived, there was no carbonation. The food was great, but the service was okay even though it wasn't busy at all. However, the waitress was nice and pleasant. She replaced my coke with a can of coke instead because she said it was "better." The lunch deals are always a great bargain, but I guess the drink, not so much.
The food can't be better and the service can not be beat! The prices are spit on for what your getting and it's affordable enough to go a few times a month with the whole family! If your in the area or out of town come and visit the wonderful experience of Yen Ching Restaurant at gentio crossing.. or call and have them deliver to you..

This place used a scam to get our business and money. They use a website that is EXACTLY like Yen Ching on Hull Street, with name Yen Cheng, but they are legally Yan Jing. When demanding a refund they said we had to call a special number. My wife's a diabetic and had to eat, so took the food. This a scam that will work only ONCE. We called THE Yen Ching, it's a location they used to own, but sold. They are contacting their lawyers and I called Richmond Police, and will be talking to their Fraud detective. Real Yen Ching says this has happened too often. And that they can refund monies immediately. SO NEVER EVER use this restaurant, look at the one star reviews.
