Despite its horrid past reputation I have found it to be an up and coming family oriented stay. New ownership and team management strategies continue to reap improvements as they continue to try to help locals needing a little help and support. I've lived here close yo half a year and continue to see improvements on all levels each month. Time tell . If suggest a name change as it gives the indication it's a short stay motel but in fact it is an apartment complex of unorthodox. Looking forward to seeing more improvements .

When my husband and I stayed at this place about 5 years ago, Dave, a district attorney at the time, was also the owner. Dave asked my husband to be security. My husband did so out of the goodness of his heart. He didn't have to. We moved for a short time. Now that we are looking to rent there again, we're told that we can't rent there because the prior owner has labeled us "problem tenants", claiming that we had the police there 4 or 5 times a day. Well, that's what happens when one is security for the place. Oh sure, they're "willing" to work with the new tenant on the deposit. Yeah, all the way down to $100 extra a month on top of the rent until it's paid off. Really? Who the hell is going to be able to afford this place? Especially if you're on SSI or SSD, this is really unaffordable, unless you have a roommate, but even then, it's a pain because, in the 2 units that are $525 a month, you have to provide electric in your own name. And now, unless a prior tenant leaves furniture behind, even in the ones that are $650 a month, you have to provide your own furnishings because the owner doesn't want the place to provide anything to the tenants, other than, of course, cable and electric, but only in the ones that are $650. This place has become a joke since Deloris, the first owner, sold it and the previous manager Ira was fired. The new owner now wants the managers, Judi Burke and her husband, Mike, to meet the propective new tenants so they can determine if the potential tenants are alcoholics/drug addicts by appearance alone. Let me say this slowly, people: California landlord/tenant law prohibits this kind of discrimination. It's also considered discrimination under the Fair Housing Act of California. For any residential property owner who has chosen to rent his/her property or the owner's agent (such as managment) to judge and approve or deny a potential tenant based on appearance is considered unlawful discrimination and the potential tenant can contest this action in a court of law. And the new owner wants his managment team, which Mike doesn't even know what the hell is going on when it comes to this position, so how the hell can he even be considered a manager??, to judge and either approve or deny tenancy based on whether or not they think, via appearance alone, the individual is an alcoholic/drug addict. I wonder what happens if someone who's a RECOVERING alcoholic/addict wants to rent there? Are Judi and Mike going to say no because they LOOK like an alcoholic/addict? Do the new owner and managment even care about abiding by the landlord/tenant laws or do they think that those laws don't apply to them? News flash, geniuses: LANDLORD/TENANT LAWS APPLY TO ALL RESIDENTIAL COMPLEX PROPERTY OWNERS AND THEIR MANAGERS!!!!! So, if you don't want to be judged by whether or not you're an alcoholic or addict and approved or denied tenancy based on your appearance, if you want a managment team where BOTH managers know what's going on in the office, then DO NOT RENT HERE!!!! Instead, report them to the Fair Housing department and to the Better Business Bureau. DO NOT EVEN APPLY HERE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE JUDGED AND EITHER APPROVED OR DENIED DEPENDING ON YOUR APPEARANCE!! Personally, I think the manager, Judi (as her husband seems to know absolutely NOTHING about the 'office stuff' as he calls it) just says that kind of thing so she can meet the person and see if she actually likes them or not, then decides whether or not to rent to you based on that. If she denies you, then I bet she makes the excuse that your credit/criminal background check came back unfavorably or that you appeared to be an alcoholic/addict when the reality is that she just doesn't like you for whatever idiotic excuse she can come up with.

Its a great place now, no more drug addicts you dont have to be scared letting your kids out to play no more needles on the premises. I've been on site manager here for two years now
